Kirby? "Deep" Fantasy stuff tends to at least avoid school scenarios.
Tend to, at least. Oh well.

He does, since I recall a friend mentioning the Tennis episode (never watched Death Note as I read it years ago). I still wouldn't count it if only because he's there for what seems like two chapters.
And, no, I don't agree at all that anime = child/teen fodder. Not even close. Genre is what matters for that, not the medium. Shounen and shoujo tend to be stuck there, seinen and josei depend on the story. It is pretty much the same as our own fascination with College life for most comedic situations~
Though the popularity as a manga helps the jump to anime and a lot of the super popular manga are shounen/shoujo, hence the anime reflect that. Manga (and Light Novels) do have a wider range of age groups and lifestyles touched on and I don't disagree on that.
Most the anime that comes here is shounen or shoujo ... but I really don't care as I haven't seen anything dubbed in years.
Personally, I don't care. If the story is entertaining enough, the school backdrop isn't that big of a deal. I just wish that, if the High School setting wasn't pivotal to the story, they'd move up to College or somewhere else.
It's not like I won't watch/read something because "oh man, High School again?" but it would be refreshing.
:\ I never pay attention to those sorta "oh man High School" details. The setting is just that - a setting. If the story is good, then that's just the way the setting has to be. And let's face it... most of the things that I like/write are about children who would be in middle school. To me, it's just more or less reflective of the age group of the characters. If they are 14-18, they should be in high school. If they aren't attending a school - that's just strange.

OH GOD A NEW EPISODE
OH MAN YES IT'S THE "ENDLESS EIGHT" STORY
EDIT: I don't understand....they either took out the conflict of this story or are gonna show it in the next episode.
I hope they didn't take it out...it was so cool...if they took out the conflict, the title "endless eight" will be meaningless
But I don't know how they would stretch it out over an entire episode....
I assume that if they really took it out, they were trying to make this episode a sweet little slice-of-life, which sucks because the story isn't built around that, and in the novel, the huge conflict was so heavily foreshadowed! (though I don't think I saw it coming)
