Ok, here is the third stratum:

Stupid floors 11 and 12 were so annoying for making those "lava boat" paths. Took me awhile, but thankfully they're done.

Here is the first map of the 4th stratum too.

Just over half way done with these preliminary maps :)

Holy damage floors, Batman!

(reminds self to invest in Braving the Rain before 9F)

But looks good, as usual.

I'm glad to hear that :) The comments you guys provide are great for helping maintain my motivation ;) lol

Looking ahead to some of the future floors, I really have to come up with some creative ways to display the stuff on the maps. Like teleports that only work when you walk into them from a certain direction. I'm fairly limited with having only a 15x15 pixel box to work with. It doesn't really help seeing how the japanese did their maps since they don't really care how the map looks, just as long as its functional. I care equally about look and functionality, or maybe a touch more about the look ;) lol

For certain direction teleports, you could use a box that is a different colour on the one side. Perhaps an argyle pattern (diamond in a box) if you really want to be fancy.

Yeah, the different colors is a given (I did that in the EO1 & 2 maps), and I've been thinking of putting a triangle in a box with the letter/number above it to help show the direction. I'll play with it and see how it looks.

Ok, here are the other 3 maps of the 4th stratum.

There's lots of stair/pit stuff in this stratum. And those stupid closing gates don't make things any easier. Oh well, more annoyance to come in the next bunch of floors.

Just 2 more stratums to go :)

I know you hate the lava boats, but from the ones I've seen, they are generally 2-way, while the maps only show a 1-way arrow. Just thought that this may be misleading to others viewing the maps.

However, to avoid spoilers, I have been trying to avoid delving too deep into the third Stratum, so I haven't seen all of these "lava boats". If all of them are 2-way, then disregard this comment XD

Alrighty, here is the 5th stratum for you all.

http://www.ualberta.ca/~fqureshi/EO3/17F.png

http://www.ualberta.ca/~fqureshi/EO3/18F.png

http://www.ualberta.ca/~fqureshi/EO3/19F.png

http://www.ualberta.ca/~fqureshi/EO3/20F.png

Starting in the 5th stratum, you'll encounter rooms in which your "radar" doesn't work. What I mean by this is that in those rooms and corridors, your automap does not work, and you cannot see where you are on the map. Basically you are walking blind (on the map), and must rely solely on what you actually see. Forces you to map it out manually.

Anyway, I was deciding on whether or not to include those rooms somehow, and couldn't really think of anything of how I should mark them. I didn't just want to color them something else. But then I had a neat idea. The radar not working is kinda like "radar jamming", and we all know how you get that fuzzy & noisy appearance with anything that comes with jamming. So I made those tiles that have rooms in which your radar doesn't work have tiles that have the "jamming fuzziness" (for Photoshop users, I added noise; Guassian Monochromatic to be exact).

I wasn't sure how the result would look, but after a bit of tweaking, I like the results.

Lemme know what you guys think :) lol

Oh, and teleports galore on 19 and 20. The letters represent the source and destination, if it wasn't obvious.

Woohoo, finished the 6th stratum!

http://www.ualberta.ca/~fqureshi/EO3/25F.png

Well I finally finished doing the preliminary maps of all 6 stratums. The next step is to go back through them and add in the legends and other info. I think I'll take a little bit of a break from the maps and maybe look at finishing the other half of the skill trees now.

Any feedback regarding the maps? Anything to improve, redo or make better? Anything not clear enough? Please comment.

The lettered warp/teleport tiles in the fifth stratum don't line up exactly.

Other than that, everything should be fine once you add the legends.
