A hardware is only ever good as its software. Show me some games for the damn thing and then I'll think about purchasing it.
Still, with that being said, I would purchase this long before I would purchase 3DS to be perfectly honest.
Think I'm on the verge of denouncing myself as a Nintendo faithful and going as Sony-chic from now on. Nintendo has not been kind to me and I'm getting sick of it.

Titles known so far are Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Resistance, Call of Duty, Citadel, that Tower Defense game by Epic that I just forgot the name of, and Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Capcom also showed off Lost Planet 2, Sega showed off Yakuza 4, KOEI had Dynasty Warriors, and Kojima had MGS4 as tech demos. Yakuza 4 took about 3 months to get ported and a PS3 game based off of Citadel by Epic (i.e., UE3 engine) took under a week to port so ... much of the PSP2/NGP initial catalog is bound to be PS3 ports.
I did my quick-and-dirty summary in the Game topic from the conference last night. Don't feel like reposting that so ... yeah.
As for 3DS vs NGP, it'll come down to software support and, quite frankly, NGP looks better for the time being. Uncharted, MHP3rd, Yakuza, and Little Big Planet? Alright. Hell, basically every title I listed above is something I'd potentially try out.
The NGP just wows me from a tech standpoint than most the hardware in the 3DS, though the 3D is still interesting for the time being (never got my hands-on time T.T). Though, all that tech does mean a potentially higher price tag; most the nitty-gritty hardware (the quad core CPU/GPU, 5" OLED multitouch, etc.) is only like ~$200-220 cost-of-production so, theoretically, they could sell at $299-$349 and show _THEY LEARNED SOMETHING FROM THE PS3 LAUNCH_ but somehow I doubt their marketing wizards have grasped that.

WTF $ony, a PSPgo (no physical disks) with 2 analog sticks and better graphics?
and it'll probably cost you your left testicle and first born child.
I don't even know why I bother complaining about video game consoles, I just end up buying ALL OF THEM anyway.
Here's hoping for a better set of launch titles than the 3DS.
also, does anybody else think that the NGP looks almost like a cheap PSP knockoff?
I hope that's a prototype.
What's this "Cross" button they're referring to?
I'm pretty sure it's the "X (ecks) button", not the "† (cross) button.
