Rules and Regulations:
All rules are subject to my own personal opinions and feelings and may be changed or altered at any time. If you feel that there is a rule that you disagree with, please PM me and we will discuss it. I am not strict on offenders. I give plenty of warnings. I may even edit or delete your posts if I find something wrong. If it becomes a problem, I will PM you three times with a warning against it. After those three PM strikes you will receive a week long temporary ban. Once you return if you receive another three PM strikes you will receive a permanent ban.
General Conduct of Forums
- Swearing is permitted, but not in excess.
- Trolling or frequent insulting will not be tolerated (especially for new members). And remember, there is no wrong or dumb question.
- Topic derailment - While I'm a firm believer that topics need to be open to allow for free flow of ideas, the complete derailment of a topic is not appreciated
- Forum drama... it's impossible to avoid, sometimes a little necessary, however, deal with the drama in a separate topic to avoid topic derailment and KEEP IT THERE! Taking an argument outside of the thread is not permitted, and if one of the members steps out of the argument and refuses to continue to participate, I say kudos to them and you will not badger them to get back into it.
- Double posting - At the moment, I have no stern rule for or against it. But, don't make it a problem.
- If you have an issue with a topic that has been closed, edited or any post please contact the Moderator or Admin who actually edited/closed your topic. Please do not make it a public issue as more often than not topics that have been closed are made at a Mod/Admin's discretion and they can sometimes be wrong.
- Certain members and the administrator of this forum have a problem with certain members of the official Atlus Forums. While we support the Atlus Forums 100% and encourage everyone to visit, unfortunately we have had a few arguments between members. It is for this reason that I will make this rather pathetic rule: Members of Atlus are not permitted to be referenced to. The Atlus forums are not allowed to be mentioned in any negative way.
Avatars and Signatures
- Avatars may not be more than 140 x 250. (Changed for new template sizes.)
- Signatures may not be longer than 450 x 200. For text, the same general height is applied.
- Content of images may be suggestive, however, no pornographic elements may be permitted (this applies for ALL images).
Pornography
Quote: pornographic - designed to arouse lust; "pornographic films and magazines"; "adult movies"
As per the above quote, pornography is designed to arouse lust; however, in the modern world there are images that create lust that are not neccessarily overly suggestive.
Exposed body parts are not permitted, blurred or unblurred. Overly suggestive images, such as too much cleavage or a bulging jock-strap are not permitted. What is too much? That's the decision of the Administration Team, if a Mod or an Admin asks you to remove your image do it. If you don't do it promptly an Admin will forcibly remove the image and if it's in your signature delete your entire signature.
If in doubt, do not display the image.
Roms, ISOs, Emulation, and Warez
- Emulators and Emualtion: any discussion around emulators, emulations and how and where to find emulators is 100% permitted. There is no harm or damage in programmers creating emulators.
- ROMs and ISOs:
Out of Print:
If a title is out of print, for example it was released at the start of a system lifespan and it's now the end of said system's lifespan then linkage and discussion is permitted. If it's for a title that is on an older system, then linkage and discussion to said ROM or ISO is permitted. However, should the title become available to purchase via an online tool (e.g. Virtual Console) or is re-released as a repackaged item then linkage to said ROM or ISO is to be immediately discontinued. Discussion on the ROM or the ISO is permitted, subject to there being no "leading" information to help people find out where to download the ROM or ISO.
With the exception of any Etrian Odyssey title, or said title in any language or iteration.
In Print but Untranslated:
Linkage and discussion to a ROM or ISO when the game is only released in another tongue (e.g. not the UK, USA, Canada or Australia) and it's been confirmed that this game will not be localised in an English speaking country is permitted.
If the game is current-generation but there has been no information as to whether it will be released in English, then linkage and discussion of that game's ROM, ISO or Patch is not permitted at all.
No current generation Atlus games' ROM, ISO or language Patch are to be linked to unless Atlus USA have expressed in writing that they will not be translating the title.
Language Patches:
If a title is not released in an English speaking territory then we support language patches, subject to them meeting the aforementioned criteria.
If someone has done a text file translation, e.g. the entire script of the game is in a text (.txt, .doc. docx etc) file then the linkage to that file is permitted; however, no discussion on where to pick up the untranslated ROM is allowed.
Please remember that downloading a ROM or an ISO is illegal under any circumstance, even if a title has not been released in your own or an English speaking territory does not make it free game to download. The copyright holder will hold international copyright in the majority of situations. Language patches and even translated game scripts in a text file are also illegal as they breach the creator's intellectual property.
- Warez or downloading of various products outside of the realms of gaming: discussion is permitted but linkage is NOT permitted. I don't care if you tell me that you download music illegally. Do it at your own discretion. Neither I or my website is responsible for the actions of its members.
Image Gallery
- No pornographic shots are to be displayed in your personal image galleries! Keep the age group at 16+. I don't mind some that are pushing the envelope a little, but don't make it too serious. Images I disagree with will be removed and a PM sent to you asking you to please refrain posting such material.
- NSFW Gallery: We have three MAJOR rules that I'm a hardass on. These are NON-NEGOTIABLE!! No children! No rape! No bondage (that means you, Dark Hunters)! Three strikes, you are OUT of the group for a week, then I'll let you back in. Another three strikes = ban from the usergroup. If you are unsure about the image, PM it to me and I'll be more than happy to look at it and give you a yes or no.
Warnings and Temp Bans
So, action been taken against you? What's that mean?
- Warnings: Under most circumstances (we reserve the right to jump this step) you will be given a total of three warnings about one of the broken offenses above. Three warnings for the same offense and you will receive a Temp Ban. Keep receiving a Temp Ban and it will eventually lead up a a permanent ban. You don't have to do anything if you receive a warning. We are just flagging you and letting you know that we really don't like what you did.
- Temp Ban: Three days. I don't care at what time you were temp banned during the day, you will not get access until midnight of the third day. That means if you were banned Monday, that counts as day one, Tuesday is Day 2, Wednesday Day 3 - Thursday at 12am your ban is lifted (that's Wed night, Thurs morning).
- Keep posting improper material in the image gallery, you will be temporarily banned - same rules apply as with the forum temp ban.

Note: Seriously, I'm NOT hard on rules. Please just make sure the images in your siggies and avatar do not stretch my forums. Here are a few other things you should be aware of when chatting with us:
- The Ever-changing Name Topic: It's in General Discussion. It's for silly posts and endless nonsense. Problem is, the name of the topic is frequently changed by the Mods and Admins. Enjoy it if you can find it :3
- Spoiler Tags: We have them! USE THEM!! Or Kino will eat you.

They are also useful for hiding a multitude of images.
- Images posted in posts CANNOT stretch the forums and will automatically resize. Remember: this does not include signatures or avatars. However, if you have an image to share you can, no matter what the size, and then we can click on it and it will open up in a lightbox at full size. |

| So, what exactly counts as pornographic material? Also, I'm assuming patches for ROMs are treated the same as emulators, as long as no ROMs are linked to (on the forum or in the link). Am I correct? |

May I ask for an addition to:
- Roms of old out-of print games and unlicensed in the USA: discussion and linkage is permitted.
To include:
(with the exception of games being remade, put on the Wii's virtual console, etc.)
or something to that extent?
Because there are even a few old import games available as downloadable content on the Wii (such as Sin and Punishment for the N64).

Ok Roms and Rom patches are treated the same (sorry, but patches to me seems as if it's approving of the rom in a way. It's too thin a line that I'd rather not walk).
Pornographic has been defined.
As well as Wii Store been added to the rules.
Anything else ^_^. I'm glad you guys are asking these questions. It shows a good keen interest in the rules and don't be afraid of me. You can argue a point if you dislike a rule. I can't say I'll agree but if you make a good case you might change my mind or might encourage me to modify a rule. |

try checking gamefaqs or IGN to see if it was published in the US.
or if it's a really old game, try checking to see if it's still in print.
(Although, I doubt it if it's a rare or pre-2002 game)
If you cant find it on even eBay, Amazon, play-asia, gamestop, etc.
Then it's probably out of print/unattainable by conventional means.
Thus, it would fall under the rom A-OK category in my book XD
If you're still having trouble, then just ask around.
I'm sure someone around here would know if a particular game was still licensed or not. |

Because Landsknecht is awesome? It's so awesome I dreamed about it last night. I dreamed I found a book called "Battles and Triumphs of the Bavarian Landsknecht corps, 1617-1789" and it awesome. I'm the kind of person who thinks books like that are awesome though.
It's mostly a joke with the banning though. Mostly. |
