EOIV: Secret Classes and Subclassing

Well obviously, this being Etrian Odyssey, there has to be secret classes, right? We now have a new 'Warrior' class, but this is more unique than before. See my avatar? It's an entirely new species, rather than just a class.
Did I say classes? The first has already been revealed as the Mystic. Looks elven.
And, as the title says, Subclassing is making a return.

Famitsu page.
EO4 Class Update, Monster Lines

More information on the other classes in Etrian Odyssey 4 have been released, plus all their portraits. Same place as before. Hit the jump for my own text.

*Snipers, the archers of the game. About the same as before; either targeting single or multiple monsters.
*Rune Masters, the elemental users. Also not much difference; uses lightning or ice attacks.
*Night Seekers might be a bit different this time. Seems they can wield two weapons, like the shogun in EO3, and have one-hit kill abilities. They can also make themselves invulnerable to physical attacks.
*Dancers seem like hybrids this time. Either they're supporting like they did before (buffs, HP regen), or they're on the front wielding blades.

Monsters have lines now. There are also abilities that can hit one target and the one behind it.

Skill selection is now done via an actual tree, so I guess you can see where abilities go, and what you need to get it.
One of our forum members, ZetaBlade, has been keeping up. He's noticed a split between Novice, Veteran and Master pages on the skills. He also speculates subclassing might still be in, based on the Dancer image having a 'tab' of sorts at the top. That last part is SPECULATION, so don't think it means subclassing is back. My memory says they said something about avoiding that route.

Burst Skills is what they're calling specials now. Like in EO3, seems you need to find them via books, and can equip them to individual units. However, the bar is shared by the entire party. Effects include higher chances for running, two slashes in a single round, or attack buffs.

30 characters max.

Got images for two NPCs, looks like. Big black guy with an awesome mustahce who looks like he can crush heads with his bare hands, and a petite wrench wench.

Officially an outside of dungeon affair.
SE link also has some skills translated, mostly for what everyone can expect (Fortress protects, Medic heals, Swordsman drops defense for attack).

Scan 1
Scan 2

Scans mostly show the entire Swordsman, Medic and Fortress casts, and a sample of their skills.
FOEs can still be lured away still.
A little scan on the first page has a 'smaller' dungeon.
So, apparently the Official Japanese Etrian Odyssey 4 website launched early. Head over there to view the scarce content that they have - all in Japanese, of course.

There is also a blog located at the far right end of their navigation bar, but again, all in Japanese and even put through a translator there didn't seem to be anything TOO fascinating. Just things we already know.

However, on the main website there are two preview tracks that play while you are reading.
UPDATED! Weekend Site Clean-up

Update:

So, I blame the holidays, but seriously, this turned into a much bigger project than I originally anticipated. I will be working on it throughout the week. Most of it is off-site work so far, so do not expect anything serious.

-----
So, to be quite honest, I'm a student for webdesign and development. I'm going through the classes at the moment and there's a lot that I'm learning. When I made ItL it was before I even started these classes.

In addition to this, I had JUST learned CSS. So, it's not like I was actually GOOD at it, yet. I've gotten better since then, though I will not say that I know everything (I'm STILL a student).

Still, the purpose of this rather small, self-analyzing post is to tell you all that this weekend I will be cleaning codes up. Not just codes but a lot of trash I see sitting on my server. Random things and such. I'm going to be doing a little summer cleaning.

Hopefully it will be nothing that you guys notice. However, in the odd event that something happens I wanted to give you all a warning: I'm editting my codes - anything can happen. Most of it will be done off-line, but in the event that something strange occurs with the site, please do not fret. We will be back up in working condition by Monday, even if I have to upload a back-up.

So, you get that? This weekend the site should NOT go down, but if it does, it will be down the entire weekend and will return Monday. The forums will not be touched, so please feel free to continue posting and enjoying yourself.

In addition to this, I've also corrected a few errors that I noticed from my last load up. My apologies for those and any inconvenience caused.

Now, the next part of this update is to remind everyone about the IntotheLabyrinth.net Youtube Channel.
So, the Official Etrian Odyssey 3 website went live last week, and on it was a few screenshots, nothing exciting to motivate me. Yesterday, however, the website updated with even more screenshots, and four wallpapers. Before that, there was also a video released.
In case you are not a GameFaqs frequenter and/or you are new to the Etrian Odyssey series, let me give a little background information. Zaraf is the guy on GameFaqs who is responsible for making all of the fabulous and beautiful maps we have for the games. He has been at it since the first game, and it is usually a big collaborative effort.

This project, however, was kept underwraps for a while after Zaraf posted a strange message on the ItL forums asking for a javascript coder and hired up Negzee, one of our forum frequenters. If you have been checking the forums here or at GF, you would know that he about a week ago he finally announced what he had been working on: a Skill Simulator for Etrian Odyssey 3.

ItL is now the proud host of this wonderful project. I'm very honored to be hosting it since it is not something he can place up on GameFaqs. It's a very beautiful program. All of the controls and how-to's are listed on the intro page, so be sure to read it. They put some tremendous time and effort into it and it just looks fantastic.

I can't wait for the game to come over to our shores so I will be able to use it. It will be updated then as necessary. Check back with us here in the future and we'll announce any updates or changes he has made.

GREAT JOB GUYS!! Your hard work really shows!

So, I've got the third stratum all chopped up into little map pieces and I have the Item Point, Treasure, and Camp Site Locations guide updated with them.

I'm in such a hurry to get these done before something comes up in my life. Putting the guides together and filling in blanks will make my life so much easier in the future.

Also: I picked up the new article in Nintendo Power. Really isn't very much to it. I'll type it up later - sometime late tomorrow - and throw it up. Seriously, it was kind of a let down to someone who already knew about the game and its features. It's definitely just an article geared for the target audience of semi-ignorant Nintendo players and not rabid EO fans XD . As for english screenshots. There's like... five of them? Not much. I'm sure we'll be seeing MUCH much more though in the future when the lock on Atlus USA starts peeling away. Still no sign of an official website yet.

Edit: Err... all of my avatars as of late seem to be female. Haha, my apologies. I promise, my next post avatar will be male. But... they are just so cute~

According to Zachary, who e-mailed me (thank you!), the Nintendo Power magazine article lists more of the same.
