I got through expert without too much trouble (though i never was able to beat the 6th stratum boss without being cheap), and by comparison EO2 still kicks my ass up and down the street if i don't carefully think about each action i take

im sure i said somewhere that "normal" is etrian 3-4 and "expert" is etrian 1-2

I didn't play much of 3 because I disliked the classes, but picking up 4 I was shocked by how easy it was. I'm sure a lot of people didn't like that.

I've played through classic mode many times, and the protector consistently diverted attacks, and in cases where enemies were strong enough to regularly hand out KOs, the protector was often the last man standing by sheer amount of HP and defense, even with provoke. I've beaten it on Classic without a Protector, and without a Medic, but never without either.

My favorite team is probably uh

Protector, Ronin, DH,
Medic, Hexer.

The Protector with Ronin skills, the Medic with Alchemist skills, and the Hexer with Gunner skills.

I thought that between the hexer and DH, full binding enemies was easy enough. but just getting two binds up is enough for ecstasy to do a lot of damage
