It's mildly difficult to be really scared in Dead Space when you have an arsenal fit for a army (granted, said army has nothing but effective mining tools) or any horror game that has that sort of thing. It just makes me a little sad because the storyline usually really intrigues me in those games, but I can't play them! If I'm lucky, I can catch a friend playing the game... and duck and cover for the scariest parts.
