Re: Sexism Against Men
@Rey - I'm really glad you shared that. I'm not making assumptions around feminism, feminism in this country, isn't at all about equality. It's about further female rights, not universal rights. I've already posted a perfect example of this around "Lad's Mags" and how the tides are changin...

Re: Why Are You Happy Today?
Mmm, suits. <3
Nice piece, Rey!
I'm happy because I've sewn and embroidered 3 1/2 (soon to be more) Christmas ornaments for a charity and it is helping me upgrade my sewing skills. Also, I did not know embroidery was so much fun.

Re: Sexism Against Men
Which is why I live preventatively every day by eating healthy foods and exercising. Also, what health insurance? I've been working since 18 and this year is the first time I've had a job where health insurance was even an option... which still isn't affordable. @_@ Anyway, I have known a lot of men...

Re: Capital Punishment
Could be higher and people just aren't reporting it. Garrett - If everyone thought that way, nobody would end up deserving life. It's all or nothing here. You don't get to decide who gets to live and who deserves to die based on your personal opinions. I think rape is super horrible, too. I would be...

Re: Capital Punishment
Garrett, do you really think prison is a reward for bad behavior? Please tell that to any inmate ever and let them fill you in on exactly how inaccurate that assumption is. Do a quick search on the internet about prison conditions and you will find in our country that they are in a sad state. One in...

Re: Sexism Against Men
I would never feel comfortable treating a man that way. Blegh. It was with no meat. She offered to substitute guacamole, which would normally be an extra thing (which, by the way, was SUPER delicious). Yes, I live in meat central, but I also live in Austin which is the weird pocket of Texas where yo...

Re: Sexism Against Men
@Garrett - No worries. It's understandable. But can you see how a lot of feminists or equal rights activists might take that? What's considered the ideal in those scenarios you listed? Being a man. What's considered inherently weak? Being a woman. So while I do sympathize with you, at the same time ...

Re: Sexism Against Men
See, these are things I'm simply not privy to, not only because I am a woman and my experiences are quite different from yours, but because I don't do or say these kinds of things to men in my life.

Re: Sexism Against Men
What I'm really curious to know is what manifestations of sexism you guys have personally experienced that you don't like. What specific expectations have you resented and why? What parts of sexism against men have interfered with your ability to do or enjoy something?
