PnP RPG Thread
Jubelon and I were discussing starting a thread about Pen and Paper roleplaying games a couple of weeks ago. And since the Sekaiju no Meikyuu SRS thread seems a little dead, I decided to go ahead with making a general one. Who here actually plays PnP? If you do, feel free to talk about your favourit...

Oh no, the newer games will still pwn your ass. Finding a Yamineko in EOIII nearly party wiped me whilst I was at level 1. Personally, I found EOII harder than 1, but thats possibly because Immunise and Defender made 1 a bit of a joke; and I didn't use Revenge Hexxer (though Gunner really makes Alch...

I didn't have any trouble with the armamentalist one, actually. Two characters hit it first turn, two cast wizard ward, first two guard second turn, and warded guys finish it off. Only had to find three slimes total (number 2 ran away, but met the conditions with 1 and 3). I got fairly lucky with hi...

Well, whoever invented most of the DQIX sidequests is a sheer masochist. Even moreso when get 'transgressed with finesse' and you can only rage at how that is completely inaccurate due to the sheer effort (or mind numbing tedium) involved. Oh well... I doubt I'm going to do all of them, anyway. Doin...

My main in DQIX is still a Priest (Spear); along with a Gladiator (Sword), Ranger (Axe) and a Mage (Knife). I had intended to make the main into a Pally, and Mage into an Armamentalist, but the lack of initial healing the former was a bit meh, and I can't do the latter until I get the mage to master...

Was it the hat? It was the hat, wasn't it? =P Definately. I used to have a very similar one. :D JET is a nice program, but I can't recommend it unreservedly. I hear too many stories of eager young participants getting sidelined, and being used as nothing more than glorified parrots in the classroom...

When I left the UK the only films I'd heard of were Akira, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, and I'd never seen or read any manga, so either the scene has exploded since then or the level of interest is wildly different across the pond. Money isn't a problem here, I pick up all my manga for abou...

Oh, and I hate the idea of the HM slave, distributing the HM's across the team, and designing the initial concept around this limitation. Cut on a Technician Persian, in SoulSilver, for example, isn't too bad. Although, I'll usually put the one-off, disposable HM moves on a pokemon I'm not likely to...

That is all. I have no problem with people volunteering themselves for the military, for example, but when they are forced to enter, well, it's about as good as putting a gun to their head and in many cases pulling the trigger. To be fair, conscription can barely be justified, I feel, in times of n...

About 10 hours in on Dragon Quest IX for DS... I may have temporarily averted my fear of Akira Toriyama artworks; since it seems somewhat less obvious here. Or maybe the game is sufficiently good for me to ignore the art (I guess I managed that for Chrono Trigger). The create own party and dress up ...

Even in Red, I managed equal raising, and have always done so since, even though I was 13 at the time of the original GB games. Its usually quite possible to have a team of 6 on par with most of the gyms if you avoid repels and just shuffle your team around. Most of the time, grinding up levels is o...
