Corn's good, although I definitely prefer it off the cob (I hate the feeling of having something stuck in between my teeth). After an interesting conversation with my family, I realized everyone has a different apple preference. My mom likes gala apples, which are fine, but definitely not my favorit...

You could always try something from ABA Games (freeware). I have rRootage and it starts off in between easy and medium, but progresses at a somewhat steady rate to hard. The way the levels are set up, you may need memorization at some points, although some levels (to be more specific, the [Letter]R ...

My characters have some uncomfortable memories as well. Of course, it's pretty hard to make light of a man bludgeoning his wife to death. And that's only part of the memory... Every time I think of that scene, this comes up (skip ahead to 2:30 -- sorry that it won't embed): [youtube]http://www.youtu...

So I finished chapter two, mainly because I procrastinate way too much, and it is my first flashback chapter. To be fair, I didn't have any better way to show what I wanted to say (man gives woman necklace). It would be too boring to have the main character (Mortus) tell someone, "My dad gave t...

Because it can. On the plus side, I just finished All Quiet on the Western Front! Time to start on Kaffir Boy... Ahem. Since this is a rant thread and all... I hate memorizing music scales. And playing them, for that manner. Anything at or above five flats/sharps irritates me. And on that subject, I...

The flashback actually seems more like showing to me, assuming that Bob catches Steve in the act, since you can show Bob's emotions and how any good will he had toward Steve morphed into extreme hate. Assuming the story is told from the perspective of Bob, having the flashback then having the encoun...

Flashbacks are good if implemented correctly (like in It or Trilby's Notes). Although I do agree that they can end up being used as information dumps and such.
Either way, I'll end up using them anyway, mainly because I can't see any better way to do want I want to do.

Yeah, I'm probably not going to figure out the age group until I'm finished writing. Then I'll look over it and come up with a figure or something. I'm not a big fan of labeling books with certain age parameters, because, to me at least, it comes down to whether the reader is mature enough or not. O...
