Oh, I knew Lincoln was elected right after the Republican party was formed. That's one of the few things I actually have retained from the U.S. History classes I took. I also remembering doodling a lot and hardly ever studying.

Technically, Abraham Lincoln was a Republican too...although I forget what political parties in the Civil War era meant besides pro-/con-slavery.
