Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)

Just watched Fargo . Someone, please tell me why this pile of garbage got 7 Oscar nominations, 2 Oscar awards, and "Two thumbs up, way up!". Please tell me. If I have time in the next week or so I might come back and give you the traditionally lengthy Starfe explanation, but I can assure ...

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: QQ moar

Ugh. That has happened to me before, the bus drivers in Seattle are usually goodly enough to let you on without fare unless you look crazy. Its always awful when you realize you didn't help when you could have. Normally I don't have the change on me for that though. In Seattle the bus is $2.50 and h...

Re: Favorite Books and Current Reads

^I've never read Akira. I know, I know, my shame is deep. One day I shall atone for all the things I haven't read... I am now keenly interested in reading Of Dice and Men, especially considering I just started my third-ever D&D campaign. Sounds like a fascinating read! Akira is absolutely wonde...

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: QQ moar

I'm Canadian, but it's fairly similar here. This is phrased nicer than my response I typed out last night, but Garret, have you actually ever had a job? If the boss comes up to you and tells you you aren't doing well enough and that your pay is getting docked, that is not the time to say anything. ...

Re: Favorite Books and Current Reads

Currently re-reading Akira as I slow release it onto my classroom shelf, also reading "Of Dice and Men", which is very interesting.

Also a billion fucking homework assignments. I'm reading those as well.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread

Wow, why couldn't you have been my teacher Starfe? Not that I needed encouragement to read, but just to finally read Akira. My local library only has volume three for some reason, and I've only ever seen the movie. Really though, I seriously wish I'd had a teacher like you in high school. Wish my s...

Blowing my students minds when I know shit about video games. Especially stuff like Pokemon. Love it.

Blowing my students minds because they think I won't understand their slang references to drugs, guns, and sex acts? Hate it.

Re: Europeans discussing Eurovision

Pretty sure corn products are cheap because we have approximately infinity metric fucktons of corn. Farmers grow ridiculous amounts of corn because of the subsidies. Corn is the most heavily subsidized agricultural product in the United States. Monoculture isn't natural, its financially encouraged....

Re: Europeans discussing Eurovision

Gas is over $3 a gallon here. 1.30 pounds converts to about $2.11... YOU GUYS HAVE IT CHEAP >:[ 1.30 a litre. There's like 4.5 litres to the gallon. So that's about 7usd. Whoops, math fail. That's fucking outrageous. Its not. In the US we heavily subsidize the oil companies which keeps our prices l...
