Pillars of Eternity. Too early to judge so far, but the game as you would expect, plays a lot like Baldur's Gate. My main character is a Pale Elf Wizard incidentally.

In most games you can avoid it by using a well timed Mushroom. The bunny hop trick is one method of avoiding it in Mario Kart DS.
