Considering their popularity, it doesn't surprise me that Pikachu and Gardevoir are playable. Suicune on the other hand is a bit of a surprise on the other hand. I expected something else to be the playable legendary, like the Swords of Justice or Meloetta.

Mega Heracross is very beast, however Pinsir is pretty terrible without its Mega Evolution. Heracross on the other hand can live without it.

Dive and Fly are okay. And an X-ilated Strength is good. No they're terrible. You usually get Acrobatics before you get Fly. Acrobatics is 110 power without any held items, which you hardly use in-game anyway. Also, its usually gotten before or shortly after you get Fly anyway. Before Gen V though....

Its more than that, HM moves pretty much encourage you to lug around a Pokemon whose only purpose is to use the HM moves for you. Since they're all terrible moves in combat with the exception of Surf and Waterfall.
