Even though Ranger is my favorite class, I'd recommend going for Magic Archer, only be cause they have the easiest time with the new stuff. They're a headache to maintain though since their stat growth is terribad. Though to be fair the ridiculous stats from the new gear is enough to mitigate this.

Your party is exactly like the one I first beat the game with. You should be fine. As for Chimera, recommended level is 18. Ideally you should be able to kill him before the Slaveimps join in on the party. You can use a bell to draw them out though and pick them off before taking on the boss though.

Bind his arms or inflicting Confuse (Though you'll likely not have the latter yet) will prevent his most dangerous attacks. When he spawns the Healing Rollers, kill them ASAP.
