Re: Gender discussion
Technically still incorrect, not that that's really stopped most people. What, they? It's not considered correct grammar now - but language use changes, and arguments for it being accepted are gaining ground. It's not unlike the "ain't isn't a word" thing we used to hear in school. The tr...

Re: Gender discussion
Where is zie? I don't know, but that's zirs! Also "sie." Not surprising at all, "sie" is used as both a singular and plural pronoun in German (and polite second-person, no less), so it's not at all implausible for us to use "they" as a singular pronoun. People often do,...

Re: Gender discussion
Holding the door for everyone is just polite. I ran across a quote that I really liked, which is: "Etiquette is a man opening a door for a woman. Courtesy is a woman opening a door for a man carrying packages in both arms." Gender roles are basically just about etiquette, following rules,...

Re: Future board update
How about we have genders - various gradients of male, female, and intersexed - but no gender roles at all? Thus what we recognize as a gender might be a common link of experiences or perceptions, but have no bearing at all on behavior and whether or not the behavior is considered proper. I re-propo...

Re: Favorite Books and Current Reads
@Trifkin: Your glowing recommendation of that game/book collection makes me reconsider buying it. What's the comprehensive list of books on it? @Kino: I am also squeeing at Melusine arriving sometime today. I'm nearly finished with Changeless, so I should be able to start on it tonight after I've do...

Re: Avvy and Siggy Rating
Kimiko, I really like your new avatar. But you always have cool avvies.
Kino, yours is too perfect for me to have been surprised by it. I kept thinking that the Transformers had assembled a team using the Final Fantasy III Crystals and he took Devout.

Re: Favorite Books and Current Reads
The number of books I'd like to review has become enormous. I'd like to touch on them here, but probably not in as much detail as those I before. I've also got both Melusine and Strange Fortune on the way, and Blameless and Heartless coming soon afterward. Books ahoy! So far I've covered almost all ...

Re: Favorite Books and Current Reads
I saw one or two, plus I know Ginn Hale is writing one now inspired by Shakesperean faeries: Blood Under the Throne.
I excitement.
Anyway, seems like the majority of fae/fairy rich fiction I've found is YA stuff.
