You actually don't need to run or roll to dodge his charge, you can just circle him at normal speed and it'll miss you. I usually don't go melee when I fight him, though.

I didn't mind Ludroth so much as Gobul and Lagiacrus.

Ludroth is a joke in Portable 3rd, without its underwater safe haven, it's barely even a threat.

I especially hated underwater combat because I play gunner.
