Re: Favorite Books and Current Reads

I read Dune for my English literature exam in middle (high) school. I'd already read the entire series translated in Dutch before that. The second book is quite dull, but the rest of the series is pretty good. The Neuromancer trilogy was a favorite of mine too back then. All three books are good, al...

Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: maternal appreciation in america day

Yep, that's exactly what I meant. Don't expect it to be as fast as a built-in harddisk, because USB isn't as fast as SATA. USB3 would be, but that isn't universal yet by far. Lol. It always takes me a second look to remember that oh, yeah, SEK are much cheaper than €, so the price isn't actually exo...

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: QQ moar

Poor PLA :( I hope you'll find a nicer living situation soon.. Processor speed doesn't matter as much these days as it used to. Sure, with identical specs, the faster processor is indeed faster, but unless you have it do heavy math, other things will be more important, like the amount of memory and ...

Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: maternal appreciation in america day

Faux² - Hehe :) That's cool. So you can draw ponies for them, but just not call them 'My Little' ponies or 'Rainbow Dash' and whatever the other names are. Have fun drawing ponies then :) PLA - ?? :? Ouch, that all sounds pretty difficult. As for the notebooks, HP is just a better regarded brand tha...

Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: maternal appreciation in america day

I've refrained from asking about your living situation so far, PLA, worried that I'd bring up a sensitive topic. I must admit though that I'm very curious what's up with that. Anyway, the reasons that there are so many 6910ps available are that a) it was a very popular model, and b) it's tough. Pros...

Hmm. I'm not sold on it yet. Maybe it'll grow on me though.

Re: Visual Novels

Last night I bought Cherry Tree High Comedy Club . I'm using Wine to play it, and that seems to actually work. The game is sort of like P3P without the dungeons and other evil stuff, i.e. social interactions and trying to improve skills by doing random things in limited time. It's going to be fun :)

Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: some title goes here

Today was about 16° and overcast. Or so the weather&forecast thingy told me. I didn't actually look outside today because I was sick and don't want the neighborhood seeing me bumming around in my nightie. It was just a cold, but a nasty one, with throat/sinus ache, fever and tiredness. I'm feeli...

Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: some title goes here

I seem to recall that a few of the youngsters here who are still in school are having exams. There ought to be a law prohibiting schools from having exams all at the same time. Do they not understand what they're doing to our online lives?

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: QQ moar

Laptops don't have many parts that can be reused in other laptops. The harddisk, memory and wireless cards are about the only parts that you could expect to fit into a different brand or model. The DVD drive might work, but you'd need to get a different plastic front for it. A new laptop would alrea...
