I know of mesquite, though I've never tasted it. It's the wood used for barbecue, which gives a special flavor to the food.

Aren't there salt&pepper flavor chips in Scandinavia anymore, PLA? I liked those a lot when we vacationed there each year, 20-30 years ago.
