You can kinda/sorta do that in Javascript by abusing the Number class' prototype and overriding its member access methods. Which is the reason why Javascript has the problem it does. The most aggravating language I ever had to learn was Haskell. It's a very interesting language, but... It's hard to describe how frustratingly difficult it is to do anything useful with it.
