Also, to answer your question (okay, so it wasn't actually a question): complex procedural generation. Kind of like Minecraft and Dwarf Fortress world generation, but with completely different rules.

I always I find it funny that people argue abut whether evolution exists or the world is only actually 6000 years old. The two aren't mutually exclusive. (Just like killing you and giving good advise. =D)

I'm very lucky to work in a bookstore that gives me free advance copies of books (in exchange for book reviews for our website and Goodreads account) and allows me to borrow used ones whenever I like! And! Twice a year we mark down 75,000 of our books to a dollar or less and guess who gets the sale...
