Re: Capital Punishment
Besides financially, what makes it a better solution than prison? Oh nothing really. I mean, you could argue that they're worse off in prison than in the grave, but I'm not going to because I'm honestly not sure. Pretty sure that I said earlier that I'm fine with us not having the death penalty. Le...

Re: Capital Punishment
Killing someone for revenge is EXACTLY what capital punishment is. It changes very little, except to offer some sort of justice to the family of the victims. I would argue that 40-50 years in a prison environment would be more of a punishment, due to mental trauma, torment, etc. I'm not feeling any...

Re: Capital Punishment
I thought you might bring something like that up, but I can't remember quite how I intended to respond... I'll try my best with as sleepy as I am. Being reactive isn't the same as doing X because Y happened. I mean, otherwise arguably all actions are reactive because they followed from some previous...

Re: Capital Punishment
Murder is active. Executions are reactive. Even if EVERYTHING else was the same, this would still make the two fundamentally different.

Re: Capital Punishment
Depending on circumstance, I would probably call that either assassination or execution, but I could see some cases where I might call it murder as well. A big part of murder is that it's outside the bounds of the law. There's more to it than that, but that's like a requisite. Execution at minimum r...

Re: REMEMBER REMEMBER THE BEARD OF MOWVEMBER
Y'know what I don't understand? People who become teachers who don't seem to care about education. They're certainly not in it for the money, at least according to the teachers I went through. So why are they doing it? @_@ I've known teachers who do nothing but read from the textbook during class a...

Re: Capital Punishment
The death penalty is not murder. It's execution. If you're not okay with that, fine. But like Garrett said, it's not murder.
