They have to market it that way, really, if they want it to sell. It's a puzzle game. Nobody wants to buy puzzles so might as well tease and fanservice as much as possible while hiding the game away.

To Market is only really useful if you're forgetful. Lullaby is decent and Rotton Egg is alright but landing status effects reliably isn't that easy for later fights. As for a Combat Farmer ... ... ... don't? If you absolutely must, only really Gladiator works since they'll need Charge and Berserker...

The only time Instant Death is really worth it over Petrify are the times you need it for a conditional drop. And you can't even get those drops with Kubikiri since the chance will never be above 0% after factoring in resistances. I can't think of anything off-hand you can Instant Kill but cannot Pe...

Just to preempt it, Izuna is a more reliable OHKO attack than Kubikiri will ever be; Rank 1 Izuna is better than maxed Kubikiri at the whole instant killing of things, though it does cost TP (only 1 TP if you keep it at Level 5 for a 33% Chance though).
