As for Golem, it has a 10% Death Modifier so Kubiuchi, maxed out, has a 6% chance. You won't be able to stack enough LUC to make Kubiuchi anything better than about a 6% chance either.

What's a good starting party, that'll at least get through the first boss? And what classes would be needed through the main game, especially if there are any conditional drops?
