I didn't mean to say exactly alike ... sort of like how you can say "Fallout 3 plays like an FPS." It's just for the basic gameplay element (navigating a giant map, combat is similar [in terms of how it is done], and progression is limited by power-ups to access new parts of the map, etc.)...

There's a reason for the term Metroidvania. The recent 2D Castlevania games (for ... quite awhile actually) play like a Metroid game (side scroller with giant map, power-ups as you progress, etc.).
