So, I just got my Celebi and pre-ordered Black version. XD On my way back, I decided to base the prologue of my fanfiction off this little event, being that my character decides to head to Unova after receiving a vision from a Celebi and waking up with a Cherish ball under his pillow.

I don't enjoy tournaments. Just occasional friendly battles.

I don't have the patience to raise Pokemon for competitive battle, if I'm gonna do that, I'll use something like Pokemon Online, otherwise I'm just gonna get a team of ones I think are cute and have good type distribution.

ugh i had to explain what EV training was to my friend =.=a
it's kinda complicated to people who just outlevel their starter 50+ levels ahead...
then i had to get into IVs

I've never EV or IV trained before, not knowing what it was until recently, but I might try it. I have a lot of work ahead of me...

Honestly, it is one of those things that should have been at least explained in some detail in the game. They obviously included it for a reason, knowing fully well how it could be taken advantage of.

I think it exists to increase stat diversity, since they bragged about how your pokemans wouldn't have the same stats as another one of the same type.

The thing is that it totally ruins the fun of trying to use different Pokemon in a seious battle. XD Honestly, I like Torkoal and am really disappointed at how much it can do in battle.

I think my playthrough of Black is going to be easily the most fun one because of the story I gave my trainer. xD In fact, when he fights N, it's going to be very interesting.
I don't know, how would someone who is interested in the differences between wild and trained Pokemon see N's goal? XD
Plot so far: Jake has a vision involving the events taking place in Unova, in the future. When he goes to the store to buy supplies to get ready to go, he is given a Cherish Ball by a mysterious delivery man (reflecting the Celebi event). Celebi is coming with him to help Jake fulfill his role in what is going on in Unova.
I'm going to try to avoid making this your typical Pokemon Version playthrough fanfiction, so there's going to be a lot going on.

Well, it's also there to add depth to the game for more serious players; one of the design goals is to create a game that is easy to play at all ages, but has a little something for everyone- collecting, trading, socialization, and also complex system mastery for those who are into it.
You can use lower powered pokemon competitively, you just have to use them in the right environments. There is something of a misconception that all competitive is Garchomps and legends and high end pokemon, when that is just a format of competitive play (albeit the most popular). There are competitive builders and battlers at all level of play, though- I love playing at mid tier, personally, where there is a broader range of choices and Pokemon I have a soft spot for like Ampharos and Politoed are more viable.
