Speaking of Emolga, there's Eelektross. No weakness due to Levitate making it immune to Ground. And it has good stats, barring Speed, at 85/115/80/105/80/50. Less of a defensive guy than a medium-bulky dude. Really slow though :/

I really like Lilligant, also finally get to go to the cave so I can get my Joltik. Kinda wishing I had gone with the water type starter so I could use Sandile without it type overlapping with my Tympole.
Also they need to get rid of HM moves already, they're the most annoying shit ever, especially since I can't find a good pokemon to teach them all to this early so as not clutter up my good ones.

or require that a pokemon be able to use it, but not have it use a move spot. So basically only field use, no attack use. You just need to carry around a pokemon who can use it and have the HM in your inventory.

Or give us a key item, would not not mind carrying hedge clippers instead of learning cut.

Thanks for the advice Scy.
Durant is amazing since Bug/Steel means Fire is his only weakness and X-Scissor and Iron Head make him practically unbeatable for Victory Road.
I have no other Water types currently, which is the only reason I still have Simipour, and you have to trade Boldore to evolve him, so I can't do that either. I'm leveling Tirtouga until I can get a better water type, though I may just stick with Simipour.

I just beat the story. It was pretty good, especially for a Pokemon game, and the cutscenes at the end were awesome. It was a bit different seeing fully animated cutscenes like that, but they were spectacular.
Final team:
Zekrom Lv. 50
Simipour Lv. 44
Thundurus Lv. 44
Durant Lv. 44
Terrakion Lv. 46
Jormungand (Serperior) Lv. 51

Just beat the sixth gym... Emolga swept Skyla... ironically, my Emolga's name is also pronounced like Skyla(Squyla)...
"I finally got to fight with full power!"
Skyla didn't even have a chance to attack. XD I'm a bit upset, because she's my favorite gym leader so far.
