Every pokemon that gets exp from the fight gets the effort points, effort points aren't split between participants either, they all get the full amount.

Yep, view them as a taint on the exp itself. Exp Share also duplicates EVs.
Edit: Though, with silly patience you technically don't need to fight for it due to wings.
Edit: Also, level up is no longer needed for EVs to take effect. Which is good news for Lv 100 mons, but means no more fun, absurd stat growth numbers on level up.
