On the contrary, I expect a happy ending.

Your guess is as good as mine.
Side B? Stage entrance? An item? This character is so unorthodox that you can't ever be too sure.

I felt sure his Side B was related to growing a tree/axeing people a question, but that defs looks like a Side B, like Skull Bash/Green Missile.

Yeah, the tree thing is either his down B or B neutral, though I am going to assume the item catch is B neutral.

I disagree and think the item catch is Down B. Most defensive/support moves are Down Bs (Counter, Oil Panic, PSI Shield) so it would make sense. But the problem I could see with that would be using projectiles that can be aimed, like Mega's Metal Blade or any other throw-able items. Either way, Villager is my favorite character to be announced so far and I can't wait to mess around with him.

That looks more like his Down Smash attack. I'm pretty sure I saw him charge it in one of the videos.

Which parasol are you talking about for his Up smash? Because his up tilt is the stick and the Fireworks totally look like an upsmash.
I also rewatched the direct, and it does look like he's crouching a bit before planting a tree and watering it, so yeah that might be his Down B instead.
Also also, I think that his down tilt is the weed pull when there's ground in front of him, and the bowling ball when he's facing a ledge. Maybe.

Certainly a possibility! Though I would be surprised that it isn't
Unless he drops beehives while on a gyroid rocket.
Or drops Landmasters that shoots bees.
Or summons a landmaster that fires his gyroid rocket which sets him up to drop smaller landmasters which fire bees.
