It blocks projectiles, and spins faster upon doing so, growing in strength.

i keep trying to use it... but its too slow to use it to flip people around, and doesnt last long enough to block projectiles...
... even though i doubt it does, link's arrows and bombs still get through

although if it was an instand summon, like mario's cape, it'd be AMAZING!
speaking of the cape... it all all around reflection now!
i was playing a lvl 9 mario and tried to hard knuckle spike and it hit the cape and reflected back UP at me. that was a surprise.
also link's down air has less hit lag too.. they really gave some love to Link

Link received massive buffs.
But of course, that does not yet mean he is good... since he was in a pretty deep hole, getting worse and worse with each entry. As someone who plays Link a lot in the 64 version, I like his changes so far.
And indeed. His dair takes longer to come out, but has less than half of its former landing lag. Overall Link is faster, but not quite the speed buff as Ike. His new dash attack is a highly potent kill move, which is always nice. All I can hope for now is a better boomerang for his custom special moves.

according to the in-game "hints", Links shield now blocks any and ALL projectile attacks so long as he is facing it and not attacking. i know that might not be overly relevant, but if its true that it blocks any and every projectile, thats rather huge, even if rarely exploited.
i like the dash move too, one of link's biggest downfalls was his big KO moves were either staged(side smash), situational(great spin's spike), or non-existant. his dash is much easier to perform... but i always hit a snag. i always jump through enemies. i know thats my own problem and ill learn the spacing with experience and all... but at the same time, i feel the leap shouldve clipped TO the enemy instead of phasing through, lol

on the topic of link... im noticing the timing on the second slash is tighter.. and the second slash has more hitlag. its minor, but i cant dodge/shield immediately after the slash like it looks.

It seems both Bowser Jr and Duck Hunt will be projectile-oriented characters. Good news, for me. ^~^
Also, this is a neat video. I recommend skipping to 1:12 if you want to get to the actual taunts.
And by "neat", I mean it has the English voice files. Interestingly, Robin♀ and Robin♂ have different lines for their taunts (3:38). Also, Shulk is still really feelin' it.

Maybe they just wanted something weird to compliment Link's ballerina taunt.
And indeed. Not only should Marth have English VA, but they should let you pick and choose between English and Japanese VA per character, just like in Street Fighter IV. I know a lot of Japanese fans who would love the option of the English voices.
