I'm having my wisdom teeth taken out on the 3rd now, so I'll be high as balls on pain meds but will hopefully be able to try it out.

I doubt I'll ever play online, for a number of reasons. Especially the 3DS version.

Well to begin with, I'll never play any intensive game on a wireless connection again.

Secondly, there is the fact that my residence of the next three years or so has horribly unstable Internet, so I avoid online gaming all-together.

And lastly, the local scene will carry over the the Wii U version just fine, so I'll have a good crowd for local play if I want it.

i personally dont have a wiiU and no means of playing wirelessly locally (plenty of game shops, but theyre tabletop/boardgame-centric) so online is my only real option. ^^;

i was hoping i could have some fun with everyone though, since i havent been a part of your mario kart or animal crossing stuff

I'll restate that there has been an immense misjudgment on Mega Man's Leaf Shield.

The fact you can have that active while you are shielding is so disgustingly good it cannot be comprehend. A hitbox that, while it's active, doesn't require any active frames from the user... meaning that if you are fast you can followup on it.

the problem i have with leaf shield is that it locks up your actions. all you can do is move, jump, shield, fall, and throw it. an the startup is almost as long as a falcon punch, but only lasts for like... 3-5 seconds... its hard to use practically

plus through my experience in the demo, it BLOCKS projectiles at best. which any attack generally does anyway. its never reflected for me.

though i can see how you could do a shield cancel with it for a potential uptilt combo? if its reliable for that, thats IMMENSE ko potential for MM. seriously if thats possible, thats kinda crazy.

my stance is through actual practice, there too many cons to match a POTENTIAL 1 or 2 pros. ill play around with it though. not that im skilled and am a point of reference for this stuff

i would never use leaf shield while recovering because it prevents you from using up special (rush or beat)

i could maybe see it in ledge guarding... though i generally use metal blade to gimp

edit: i meant to say the time where you start the animation, it ends, and the time it takes before you can act; falcon punch has a long windup, but after the attack, the time after the attack where you can act is small. i.e you can punish the wind-up.
leaf shield has a long enough windup to be punished (and hit out of) and the ending lag can be punished before you can shield.
so in essence im saying the action lag that you can punish is comparable to moves like falcon punch, but without NEARLY the payoff

is still learning the character, but he was starting to understand it. Unfortunately he forgot about it until the the second stock. Otherwise, it won't be enough to save him against a better player. Unfortunately I can't find archives of the friendlies, but it has seen decent enough use.

Right now there are tons of setups with it, like grabs or tilts, and really no issues getting the Leaf Shield itself going, even in intensive combat.

Edit - If Leaf Shield doesn't work well for you as it has for others, that's why I'm thankful for custom special moves, at least for non-anonymous online play. The alternatives are Skull Barrier (better at reflection, wind effect) and Plant Barrier (better at offence).

In particular, I'm happy I never have to use the Gale Boomerang again. :D
