When was being like PC gaming a bad thing? Patches and online gaming are AMAZING, assuming patches aren't used as, "release the product unfinished and then patch it so it works," kind of thing. Patches and downloadable content just allow for stuff to be added long after I finished the game as an incentive to play again or just brand new bonus stuff. Also, online play sure as hell beats "local" multiplayer, if only because then I'm not doing that stupid split screen crap. My TV, damn it! MINE.
I have nothing against the DS and the Wii as a system just a bias against the "non-games" that are on them. Well, I wouldn't even say a bias against them for the DS as it's a handheld it makes perfect sense. I'm more boggled by that trash on the Wii as a "sit there and play" thing, being a console, but filled with mini-games and "non-games." Yeah, paradigm shift from what we used to see a console as and all that jazz, I've heard the spiel, but I'm more in the, "expanding the console to tackle other media entertainment," and not, "oh hey, a fucking cookbook."
Though Cooking Mama is fun.
Don't give me that look.
Persona 3 de-rail (...or is it the other way around?!)
As for Persona 3, it took me I want to say 111 hours to get from start to finish. The game is LINEAR so it's not like I did much extra barring the fact I explored every section of Tartarus as I went (it's blocked off in sections that you can't explore until a certain month; there's a quest that requires you to reach the "top" of the section before the new one opens).
To compare that to EO2, it'd be like you have until Emperor 30 to reach the end of the 1st Stratum. There's no penalty for not reaching it by then but if you get there before, there's a quest item there with background story.
I suppose the majority of my extra playtime came from that and randomly leaving it on for periods of time (was a weird time when I sat down and finally played P3, what with meningitis going around the campus thanks to my roomate and a good friend of mine). I'd say if I played again I could get through the game in a far, far, far faster time. That and I understand the damn Fusion system so there's less moments of, "Fuck, weak to Bufu I have nothing to do that hrm. Let's just attack FUCK I DIED ARGH 3 HOURS OF PROGRESS."
...
So yeah, learn how to Fuse Persona to get something with all four elements (Agi, Bufu, Zio, Garu) covered so you can cakewalk normal encounters and then get destroyed by bosses. The game is a lot like EO in which planning can get you through encounters ... though being overpowered is a possible solution as well.
Persona 4 Back On Topic Thing
There are more sidequests quests that you can do in P4. Like, talk to random people and they give you quests blah blah blah. Also, there's fishing, but I dunno how that affects the rest of the gameplay.
Hm, speaking of which, I didn't beat Persona 3 yet...>_>;;

P4 - Sidequests
Hey, I liked P3's sidequests. Especially the optional boss who took forever for me to figure out without looking it up online.
Too bad in non-FES you have to do every quest in the game for it. In a New Game+.
You should finish P3, if only for December+ being the most depressing "tone" in a game I've ever played ever.

I hate online multiplayer. I infinitely prefer same-room multiplayer, yes, even with split screen. I play multiplayer to be social with my friends. The great failing of TF2 is that it fails at being social. I don't know any of these assholes, and they don't seem all that interested in talking to me or having fun -- they just care about KILL KILL KILL, WIN WIN WIN! I just want to have fun. I like having fun. I play games to have fun, not compete.
Patches are good, I was just using them as an explanation of how the 360 is similar to a PC in terms of experience. I hate patches being used a quick-solve, though, for games that were rushed through development.
And, yeah, Cooking Mama is fun.
@P3
Hmmm... so tough. If I get P3 than I'll probably wait until finishing it to get P4. I guess it depends on which I find faster.

Persona 3: FES should still be in stores.
It looks like this:
And if you're lucky enough to find one that looks like this:
Ask yourself: Do you want an artbook and soundtrack more, or do you want extra content more?
Artbook plus Soundtrack: Persona 3 (soundtrack may or may not be there depending on whether or not it's used or new)
Extra InGame Content: Persona 3: FES

Considering P4 doesn't come out until December ... I think I may have an answer. Unless you don't start looking until like ... November something ^^.
And for social, there's local multiplayer still and stuff. I find voice chat stuff with friends (either through Xbox's or maybe using Vent since my PC and 360 are close) is enough for "social." I don't play online stuff to "meet" new people since I hate everyone in online games by default >>.
Edit: Amazon still has FES new at $29.99 I believe. It's not that old yet (3 months soon) so there's a good chance it'll come out by then.
Unless you're a collector whore like me, Persona 3: FES is by far the better choice ... though it does make some randomly weird changes (okay, not weird but damn it, praying at the shrine to raise Academics "costs" an afternoon now!). The biggest change is S. Links are "much" easier in FES since they moved a few to "Night" that previously only had one S. Link (that comes late in the game anyway). Also, I believe Summer is less useless for School S. Links, though you still can't raise them. I made the mistake of finishing a lot of non-School ones BEFORE Summer so I sat around doing nothing for awhile. Ugh.
Still, if you don't care, I'd suggest an S. Link guide since it'd suck, in my opinion, to replay the game JUST for getting all the S. Links maxed in one playthrough (it unlocks a Persona) or to know what the right damn answer is. I guess that's the perfectionist in me though so you can just do whichever Links interest you (what I did my first time) and I still got like all but 4 done (Moon, Emperor, Fortune, and Priestess. Noone get's Priestess unless they're aiming for 100% though, it seems >>).
