if you can name your character, what the hell do people say in cutscenes

in the newer Dragon Quest game on PS2, they would just skip your name when speaking

in FFIV for the DS, they took out naming because characters speak your name

The dialogue is carefully manipulated to either say "You" or when characters are talking about you they say "HIM" or "HE" with a little stress. Even in one cutscene when Mitsuru talks to you the dialogue says "Kazuki (in my case), can you do this..." while she SAYS "Can you do this" and doesn't mention a name. PLUS, not all dialogue is spoken.

haha, the game DOESN'T have a default name. The only way we got the name Arisato for P3 was from the manga. It's SAID the manga is canon or at least the name is approved or something. Dunno.
