I was going to ask if you wouldn't have the upper hand with soldiers most of the time since you can reflect, but since you probably deal with people who know what they're doing, they probably switch to their shotgun as soon as they see you and know better than to fire random rockets at you.

Mm. Since the shotgun in turn is the Pyro's most powerful gun in terms of damage, the extra health they have means a fair engagement is a bit of an uphill battle. At the very least, in a team scenario, the Pyro effectively defeats them by denying their ability to use rockets in otherwise crowded areas.

He just bought me the Valve Complete Pack on Steam. Made my New Years Eve a hell of a lot less mopey. Now if my download speed wasn't crap we could play tonight. Oh well, some other day. :D

Fork, Knife and Pickaxe all seem like fun weapons. :3
And a Pickaxe is even an easy standard item to find.

..... I know I've asked a similar question before and got a decently nice answer but...
How does one play Team Fortress? Is Mic and a Controller necessary?
Also, how are teams divided, and how do you join games and such...
Uggg, I hate feeling like I'm missing out on a lot of fun but I just know that I'm awful at FPS and they usually don't tend to interest me, but then I think that I play Halo with my dad and sister and we have such a great time.
<_<; Maybe it's just time for me to download this thing and see once and for all if I would like it.

^ I know it's possible, and probably advantageous, but I don't actually know of anyone specific using a controller. Fancy future-space mouse is more popular than that. The benefits of a mic are obvious, but you could roleplay Pyro. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Teams have vacant spots. People log in and out all the time. You can sit on the bench / spectate until a team needs a player.

Using a controller is pretty much dumb. Just going to be blunt on that. Just don't. It vs KB+M, regardless of the comfort or how awesome you think you are with a controller, is just a bad idea.
As for games, it's basically join game, start playing. Woohoo!
Orcs Must Die, Dungeon Defenders, and Bastion. C'mon, son. I wish I bought a 4-pack on DD when I picked up my copy though. Oh well. Portal 2 is, what, free or something at this point so that's there too.
But, seriously, Orcs Must Die and Dungeon Defenders are great spins on the tower defense genre. And I say that as someone who abhors TDs for the most part. They're outrageously fun and $3.74 is a great deal on them.

..... *starts downloading...* Fine. You talked me into it. Controller = awesome. I HATE HATE HATE the xbox controller which is what I would be using. And the no-mic thing is fine by me (even though I recently purchased one). I just don't like talking that much.

Really the only time I use my mic is to let my team know when something big is happening. Or when I spot a spy.
"Ubered Heavy Medic coming in"
"Spy Demo"
"Watch it, there's a sentry behind this corner"
"COME BACK MEDIC, TAKE MY SANDVICH SO YOU DON'T DIE FROM AFTERBURN"

So, my youngest brother is in the Thalmor Embassy in Skyrim...
He gave Delphine EVERYTHING he had. xD When he told me, I just muttered, "Good luck." Now, he won't take any advice from me. xD Though playing as a Redguard defeats the purpose of Thalmor Robes.
