I avoid sounding condescending, I'm just going to say that GW1 and GW2 are completely different games.
Here's some articles (complete with comic strips =D) that explain the game a lot better than I can:

...I'm not spoiling it for myself. D ; Though, I am liking what I'm hearing so far.

I don't recall off hand if Monica's bracelet was ever all that weak, but I do remember using Max's gun A LOT.

I'm just going to quote the guy en masse.
Keep in mind, the guy did not hate GW2. He just found what they were trying to do had their own problems, and could not be claimed as 'fixing MMOs' or whatever Anet says they're doing. Like not changing much or being counter-intuitive to what typical MMOs do do right. My guess.
It's actually kind of what I was worried about, that all these things really doesn't change much, and I'll pay 60 bucks for a game I should play extensively, but in reality would get bored with because it's like others I've played. Only plus being no subscription.
Hence, good idea to read up on what Anet wants to do, and see if it really appeals to you.
So to apologize to Drathi whenever he sees this, but keep my stance, I'm not against not wanting story/location/npc/quest spoilers, but key mechanics of a game you're spending 60 bucks on, or more for expansions, is something to look in to to make sure those 60 bucks are worth it prior to buying.

Okay, I think I understand where he's coming from now. I mean, I don't agree with all of it, but I do believe I got a feel for the guy's shoes. Thanks! =D

Muwahaha. Having some minor luck in MC2 using the Catapult configuration in my signature. Had an extra lying around, just in time for some needed extra punch.
