The difficulty with ED-E's upgrades is that they're so buggy, your might as well flip a coin.

Too easy.

Now to play Nocturne with no regrets.

^ Watch out for stupid Boo.

Btw, which version is it? Maniax? Chronicle, a.k.a. Raidou Kuzunoha: Ace Detective and Amala For All?
North America also got the Maniax, right?

<_< So, about the time I got Person and Sonic Rivals (both games that I love but still have not completed) I got another game called Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. It was a 3for2 sale so that was the other I chose. I started the game up once, got a headache from the lack of WTFEXPLANATIONPLEASE and never picked it up again.

I've seen it mentioned in a few lists, though, which astonished me. Sprite artwork is gorgeous but the facial artwork and the voice acting was horrendous and the game was so ODD that I put it in my C-rating pile. But now I wonder if I shouldn't take another look at it.

Except that now that I've completed the first boss I've got this "send artifact to odin" message and I'm like "wtf.... >_< EXPLANATION PLEASE?!!" so I got on the interwebz and google and suddenly I am introduced to ratings and seals and getting perfect ending and <_< *sigh* suddenly this game seems like an absolute headache again. One guide was for the perfect ending which I browsed through (I'll forget the details but I was curious) and I mean, I don't have a clue what it's talking about but it was a lot of "do this scene" "don't meet this character" "send this person" and I'm like o_O; "so... perfect ending is impossible unless I cheat, huh?"

which makes me want to put the game down... again...

And I still haven't really answered my "send artifact to odin" question yet.

Hell, I'm still not even sure in the game how to fucking heal outside of a battle.

I haven't gotten too far is PS2 but... I have mixed feelings about it. The story is interesting so far, but the battle system (while also interesting) is confusing and sometimes I have no idea where the fuck I'm supposed to be going.

edit: Have you seen anyone named Odin yet?

I haven't played Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. I just found out that you can give him artifacts throughout the game. So if she knew where he was, I was gonna suggest talking to him. >_>"

<_< I dislike following guides to a letter T like that. I don't mind opening a guide once a week or so or whatever to "double check" something, but I abhore actually following a guide word for word, action for action. That to me is poor game design. I'm the type that opens a guide after being blitzed by a boss and seeing what I'm doing wrong. Or maybe I hate a side quest system so I'll open the guides up to just get through those. Hell, when playing adventure puzzle games (like Myst or Syberia) I have a three day rule to being stuck before I open a guide. Following a guide word for word.... I might as well just open up a "Let's Play" youtube video and just watch another person get the A ending. That to me is about as much satisfaction as that offers.

I dunno... this game just suddenly went from my C pile into my F pile.

Also: I know the Valkyrie Profile games by name only. I had no idea this game was a port of a playstation game until I read the guides earlier trying to figure out this odin artifact problem. I'm not even too sure where it falls at in the series. Never played the games, never looked them up. I assumed the "noexplanationinsight" was because the game was the middle of a long series and I just lacked veteran knowledge. Not only is it a port, I learn, but it's the FIRST in the series...... ..... I do not have own a manual so maybe that's it? But playstation is around the time that companies started getting too lazy to write decent manuals... should I even bother trying to look one up?

... Think I might go back to playing Devil Survivor. :\ seriously unimpressed at the moment.

I'm with you on the guide issue. I only use guides for two things: to better understand the mechanics of a game, and because I am really, really stuck. In hindsight, it's probably a good thing that there aren't many good mechanical explanations for EO3 out there, otherwise I probably wouldn't have ended up here. =3c

I guess it can come down to only one question:

There are three endings, right?

Is it a "True End" "Good End" "Bad End" thing?

What I mean is, if I play the game through once and I do horribly (prolly will) and get Ending C, is it a "game over" ending that I'm going to be pissed about after having spent 40 odd hours on the game? Is Ending B therefore decent enough for me to warrant spending 80 hours after a subsequent loss - if not more if I, again, fail?

Is the guide-only ending the only fantastic ending in the game?

Not looking for spoilers but... I just want to rate the triumph I would feel at the end of the game and if it's worth my time.

As for now, since I do not want to drop the game like a rock, again, and want to at least get out of the prologue part of the game and see if I could like this game... since there's no way in hell I'm going to get Ending A... fuck it... I'll just keep the damn artifact anyways. *shrugs* At least then I can see what it does or does not do.

.......... still would like to know how to heal outside of battle....
