Re: Games you are playing
I think you have to royally fuck up to get the C ending. It's basically keeping all artifacts and never sending a single hero to Odin, then they fire you.
B is basically doing your job. The difference is just keeping your rating high so they think you're doing good. Basically, Ragnarok plays out.
A is balancing the rating on the menu screen with another rating on Lenneth's status screen. Pretty much keep the first one high and the second one low, and you'll actually have a story. It's pretty much whether you have a certain accessory on at the end of phases, taking in all heroes and sending up the minimum (plus sending up a certain one before a certain time), going to a certain dungeon to see a man, and seeing certain events. Once you have an idea of what you're doing in the B ending, the A ending might not be too hard to figure out. On my third playthrough I was just going for the B ending on hard, but somehow if I wanted I could get the A ending again easily.

Re: Games you are playing
I'm going to try to continue it. It does have a certain charm after putting it down that has left me with being intrigued enough to want to pick it back up. Pretty much I feel I have started a story and now I want to know how the story progresses a bit. Also: that this game became something decently popular.
I'll try it out and see what happens.
Also: kinda mad now that I chose to keep the artifacts... they were very piss poor items. Maybe a decent-ish weapon but I'm sure that something better is going to pop up soon enough and I'm sure the damage it wrecked on my eval is worse. :\ .... Sealed box..... wtf... I can't even open it? I kept it, but now it's not doing anything except taking up space in my bag..... Tch. I pissed Odin off for that?!
I will give the game this one plus: I do like the dungeon layout and the map system. I get the feeling this is going to give me a headache later on.
Also... me and these crystals are going to be on very negative terms with each other. ...... :[

Re: Games you are playing
I just played some Heretic again out of nostalgia. I'm not used to this 3D stuff anymore though. It made me a little lightheaded.
One thing I never really liked about all those FPSes I played, a decade or more ago, is that they try to scare you all the time. Monsters appear from behind walls when you grab a key, lights go off, etc. I'm just not really a fan of scary stuff.

Just to add, there's only two endings. The C Ending is a mid-game Game Over, not one you get when you beat the game. The B ending concludes a story but it leaves hints of there being more beyond it. You're almost certainly guaranteed to get the B ending on your first playthrough since the steps to get the A ending won't make sense without knowing what you're after.
Keeping the Artifacts is the right choice almost always. I'd suggest following a guide for the A ending, however, since the unlock for it isn't exactly obvious (though it makes perfect sense in relation to the story of not really a spoiler but just in case ).
Also, Hard difficulty is easier than Normal and Easy is just boring. That's not me being "lol difficulty" or anything. Hard mode actually is easier than Normal. You're given full access to your Einherjar's leveling and growth and you get to recruit all of them. On top of that, you have a whole extra dungeon per Chapter that will help you with more levels and, more importantly, good Artifacts you'll need for "crafting" later (or just to use, some are useful). Easy is a very limited game in contrast so you won't get the full experience.
You also have to do Hard difficulty for those dungeons if you want access to the post-game dungeon. So there's that.
Still not really spoilers but

Re: Games you are playing
I'm not a fan of that sort of stuff, either. I HATE things surprising me like that.
... My sister wants me to play both Slender Man (?) and Amnesia (which she's begging me to buy for her).
......... <_< no.
@Scy:
Do the monsters hit harder? I mean, I'm still in prologue mode, so I was thinking OMG too easy at the moment, but at the same time I don't like battles that are -_- excruciatingly annoying...
Maybe I'll just go through this playthrough with the intent on getting only End B and then on my next playthrough I'll do hard and try to get perfect.
.... I'll admit it. Since looking at the items briefly and putting the game down, I've been dieing to play all day.... I think despite the severe issues I have with many aspects of the game, I somehow fell in love with the platform gameplay whether I wanted to or not.

Re: Games you are playing
I forgot to mention that the Sealed Box Artifact is only used for converting into a Noble Elixir. I don't think it does anything special besides that.
Hard and Normal enemies are identical. Hard just has new Einherjar start at Level 1 instead of set levels but equipment and skills matter more (plus grinding them is easy). What makes hard ... well, harder ... are the Hard only areas that just have tougher fights in general. The most notable would be around the middle of the game with one of the optional dungeons (though required for the A-ending). But that's also the point of the game where you can utterly break the game so eh.
Go for Ending B to have a greater appreciation of Ending A. And to understand why the events you do matter for the ending. I only suggest a guide so you can make sure to do them when you should be doing them.

Re: Games you are playing
Mr. Slenderman's game is pretty repetitive. Amnesia is sort of the same, in the sense that Mario Tennis is kind of the same as Pong.

Yeah. Slender's great the very first time you play. Not so much every time after that.

Re: Games you are playing
Actually, I have to admit, the character combination of Asura and Infinity Ball has to be the best quest line just because of the end.
Yes, spoilers.

Re: Games you are playing
YCS/186 or Alien Blaster? Hmm. See, you don't really lose that much by using a regular Gauss over the YCS. You can make up the damage by using stupider MFCs.
I think this will be decided by testing the ammo-glitch. If I can put APCs on a weapon that doesn't consume ammo, or something more suitable on the Blaster itself, that could be fun.

Re: Games you are playing
New SMT4 trailer is live!
Re: Games you are playing
I wager everyone who cares already knows but is up and going strong (1.4M funded and growing). If you're a fan of isometric party-based RPGs, I urge you to at least consider backing it. Stretch goals are working on a Mac version right now and a Linux one is a later goal (that will most likely be met, tbh).
And, yes, Project Eternity is more-or-less just a code name.
Edit: @SMTIV:
Yupyupyupyupyup.
