Fair warning since you're starting GW2: The game is still new. As in Bethesda style new. As in a number of stuff is bugged and broken.
Tonight's patch is apparently fixing some, or all. Hopefully.
Don't know if you really want dual ranged weapons, unless they're REALLY different (like how I feel more mobile on my thief using dual pistols, but can provide great support with short bows. Probably going both in dungeons anyway, they're apparently melee unfriendly). Maybe at least get the skills for the others in case you decide otherwise.

Still think my main asura is a complete bad ass.


Then again, THIS is apparently what he has to live up to.

Shortbow has long range, but in my mind it's more of a middle-short range weapon. It's far more effective when flanking your target, which is significantly harder to pull off the further you are from your target. Longbow, however, THRIVES on long range.

TIP: Being further away from an enemy reduces your effective aggro. Even dodging back can be enough to make them switch targets. This is especially important for rangers to consider, since they're pretty much guaranteed an aggro buddy.

Yeah, which is why I am using Shortbow. I prefer the quick-reaction time it gives me and it gives me two attacks that move ME as opposed to the enemy. I keep a longbow as my alternate weapon, though.

I had my first large-scale boss fight, though. That Shadow Behemoth in the Swamp. That was genuinely fun. Granted, I miss the old small party routine, where you're taking out something like that. I'm trying to not let Nostalgia get ahold of me, but sometimes I'm just reminded of things...

So I saw a charr thief dual wielding daggers this morning.

Suddenly want to delete both of my alts (charr warrior, sylvari thief) to make one.

So, now I have a true gripe with the game. It's notthe bugs, but the quest leveling is AWFUL. I'm on the quest where I'm trapping the White Mantle with Anise. The previous quest was level 14--I did it at 13, because I had done all the quests in Queensdale.

Now, it's level 16 and in Kessex hill, which has enemies around level 20-23.

Maybe I'm just not grinding hard enough, but the achievements really slow down, after awhile. I've gotten all the waypoints, interest areas, and Vistas, so far, too. xP

It SOUNDS like you wandered in the "wrong" direction. But if that's not the case, then try the level 16 area of a different race. I've used that to get over humps I accidentally created for myself before. (Plus it's a good chance to get some extra skill point challenges done. =3)

I'll be figuring it all out later. Most likely I'm just gonna be grinding in that Swamp. I don't have to worry about the Skelks too much, now.

I kinda gave up for a while with Ys: The Oath in Felghana on Nightmare mode after dying about 20 times against the final boss.

STUPIDLY DIFFICULT BOSSES, BLEH

The music is amazing, but that boss is ridiculously cheap on Nightmare mode.

Every hit you take results in damage scaling from 60 to even 140 (his ice attack in 2nd phase)!

Oh, I'd never dream of playing on Nightmare mode, I'm awful at Ys. Still, that's pretty ridiculous sounding.

Wow, it's like everything is made of socks.
