^ Isn't A New Beginning the opposite of back to basics? It has city-planning and junk.

New basic is different than old basic + needless junk.

The ability to move around parts of your farm is perfectly fine with me. It looks simple enough.

I agree for the most part. I do LOVE the RF series, though, which throws in just about as much as it can - though I felt that as good as many aspects of Tides of Destiny have that are good, the one minus was that it took away the farm micromanagement.

My faves of the HM series have been: original (duh), Friends of Mineral Town (I played this game to death until the game - two cartridges - both started crashing on me as soon as I was married.... :[ ), and Magical Melody. Tree of Tranquility was also quite nice except that the boy is so fuggin' gay I don't want him near the girls and while the girl is fun to be the guy choices are... less than desirable... but in terms of farming, it was quite fun and very simplistic.

I HATED HATED HATED Wonderful Life and my god I had wanted to love that game back in my HM mega-fan days. There's not an aspect of it that I enjoy.

I'm actually toying with the idea of getting Harvest Moon Boy and Girl on my PSP. From what I understand it's basically FoMT. But... the camera angles are SO WEIRD and the sprites are done in this horrid CGI look. I'm afraid it would ruin my beloved memories. I would probably be comparing it too often to enjoy it. ... But at least it wouldn't delete the save file on me.

Thinking about it.... *sigh* ... .......

^_^ Currently about to start Winter 1 in HM and about to propose to Ann. 7 cows (fully grown now) and 8 chickens. Depending on what my grass count is when I enter Winter, I might add an 8th cow. Ann is at 7 hearts. I want to at least get her to 8 before I propose....

.... I've never actually finished Harvest Moon through the three and half years. My longest play through was hitting Summer 2. ..... .................

Only Harvest Moon game I played for a significant amount of time was Harvest Moon 64. Good times.

I liked the original, FoMT/Back to Nature, 64, and A Wonderful Life. Magical Melody was fun, but it was way too easy.

I don't like how the newer farmers look too. In the newest one, they're returning to a more traditional HM look, which I like. Still annoyed that they removed the Blue Feather in A New Beginning.

The dating bit of that game is going to be interesting.

Never played HM and only played Tides of Destiny for RF. I don't know where to start in these series because everyone I ask seems to have conflicting opinions.

Any suggestions for me ItL?

I'd say a good starter would be Back to Nature/FoMT, 64, or the Original. Magical Melody is also easy enough to get you into the series.

I found out about today. One guess what I've been doing for the last couple hours.
