Warning: Long MMO rant from an asshole so I spoilered for length.
Meh. Joined a Guild back around Naxx raiding days since I came back due to people returning to WoW. Was sad that they A) Took my Hunter (in "oh hi just dinged 60" gear) to Naxx and B) Was the highest Hunter DPS for them. I'll admit, I'm a terrible person and have no qualms telling shitty people they are shitty. On a fight (say, Instructor Razuvious), Ranged shouldn't be outDPSing the Melee. You know, the one's that aren't wasting time ducking in-and-out of Shout. Stuff like that gets on my nerves.
Speaking of key turners, assuming this means what I think it does, our MT quit on us during Naxx and we replaced him with one of our other Veteran Tanks ... who apparently turned using the keyboard AND played with a trackball Mouse. Needless to say, he was pretty terrible at the Anub'rekhan. Irony being I was subbed in as new Hunter for doing the runs on swarm and did it flawless my first try ... and he bitched at me when I tried to offer advice saying it's, "harder than it looks."
In EQ, I was one of our main number crunchers to figure out what we needed to do X encounter; I took it damned seriously when someone with equivalent gear was doing a significant (i.e., more than 10%) difference in damage. In WoW, I had times when two equally geared players were sporting 50-100% difference in damage (no, seriously, our Rogue DPS shouldn't be 3rd, 7th, 14th, and 19th ... ONE OF THEM BEHIND THE MAIN TANK). I shouldn't be out damaging Ashjre'thul Hunters as a Hunter with the AV Quest Reward Crossbow. Stuff like that. It bugs me when people are grossly underperforming at the expense of the Raid.
Not to sound like someone who just yells and hopes people get better (though the idea of that makes me smile) but, seriously, I crunch numbers left and right showing what you "should" be doing. Ideal rotations, buffs, specs, etc. to be done. I switched mains in tBC from my Hunter to a Shaman (Enhance) to get our Melee-heavy Raids Windfury and Totem buffs. Bugs me when, after all that, I get responses of, "Not your class," or, "What I do works," or, "STOP LOOKING AT DAMAGE METERS OMG." I really, really, really, hate that last one. Really. If I'm doing the damage of THREE PEOPLE COMBINED without risking the Raid by over aggroing ... well, fuck, we have three worthless people. End of story.
I've returned to WoW to roll a class needed for friends (or even just levelled them for them; I'm a pro apparently~ 1-70 5 days at tBC launch!). May also be why I hate Healing classes since I always seem to have to roll them >>.
I wish I had pick-up horror stories. Besides some stuff of replacing a missing DPS for Heroic Mech (yay Badges!) and getting 61 Arcane Mages or melee Warlock (...I wish I was kidding). I'm just used to playing with people who are awesome and settling for less makes me sad.
Wish I didn't format my old HD that had my WoW images. Sure, it's a lot of e-peen stroking but for the course of 6-7 months of raiding as my Hunter (BWL, Naxx), Enh Shaman (Kara, Gruul, Mag) and Warlock (all of tBC) I kept screenshots of Damage Meters over the course of the night on boss fights. You know, saying that now really does make it seem like e-peen stroking >> Still, it was all just to go, "See, there's these 4 Mages next to each other ... why is Mage_05 6 spots below?" or, "Why is Jack the only Rogue in the top 10 DPS for this fight?" and such. DPS charts shouldn't look like random colors thrown together. There should be some organization to them (best geared and such lead it, sure, but then it's pretty much by class for the fight).
Also, on Renew...
Renew is pretty terrible if used improperly and you're terrible if you disagree!11!!!
Seriously though, I honestly don't see a huge point, from a Priest perspective, to use it on, say, a Tank taking a significant amount of damage. Topping off people and dealing with AE damage, sure, it's awesomely cheap. On a Tank that is not taking significant damage, however, it's good enough. Someone just throwing Renew around, however, is a bit dumb. LOOK RENEW ON THE PULL OH ...
I've done runs of instances with a Shadow Priest healing mainly through VE (with spot healing on my Enh Shaman) since the Tank knew what he was doing for aggro and our stacked DPS could just plow shit down.
Edit: To be on-topic ... uh ... playing Valkyria Chronicles and trying to not do my New Game+ of Persona 4 as opposed to waiting for my backlog to dwindle! >>
Also, wtb Ar Tonelico 2 before I head back to campus T.T
