*nods* But tnot that it's a bad thing that ideas are "generic". And you should still use them if you want to. It all depends on how you use them in the story and what different elements you put in them that makes them your own original idea.

I disagree with Trance and her view that it's "idiocy". There are subtle underlying facts between all the "generic seeming" ideas that do make them original. So to call someone an idiot because he thought he had a more original idea but couldn't express it to you in one sentence, is kind of idiocy in itself.

I might be slightly bias, though ^_^; considering my own stories.

But, I do see your points in this situation, though, where he's claiming that Enix "stole" his ideas.

Is anyone else rageing at what blizzard is doing with SC2, I have been waiting for this game for more than 7 years, and they try and stinge me of my money, RAWR its so rage inducing.

Hopefully they do something cool and make an fps of starcarft, that would be so mad if you like fps though.

Guys I was joking about the whole thing, I used to tell my friends that airships were my idea

EDIT: I mean, one of my main characters is named Miles Gloriosus. Go wiki that. I used Jungian and Platonic ideas as a basis for many of my characters, and I built off of that. Pretty much any fantasy character can fit into some sort of archetype.

although, I did spend a good 15 minutes with a guy fluent in ancient greek so I could come up with a good name, and FFXII did end up using that same name...

Here's an epic idea I decided to do with my TLQ stories:

I just use basic names. >_> No overly complicated names that an 11 year old could hardly read let alone speak! I mean, I do have a FEW unusual ones, or ones ripped from greek/roman mythology, but even they are simple:

Maxine, Kriss, Amar, Morkoth, Jack, Steven, Arkoff, Ghental, Lee, Shannon, Artemis


I HATE names that look like someone's trying to rip off Tolkien and failed.

I'm really looking forward to SC2 as well... and it's going to suck to have a three-parter if it means each is sold as a separate game at full retail. I do like the transparency of Blizzard's SC2 development process, though. Did you vote on the Dark Templar model, Paranoia (or any other SC fans in here)?
