Re: Games you are playing
I've tried out the demo of EO:U, which is a lot of fun, but can't say I'm blown away by the story mode from what I've seen, so far.

Re: Games you are playing
Playing Castlevania: Mirror of Fate for my 3DS. I'm so obsessed with the game <3 so in love with it. Doesn't beat Harmony of Dissonance but the other two that I've played (Circle of the Moon and Portrait of Ruin) sucked in comparison - I didn't even bother finishing those.
And then I got online interested in reading some tips for better fighting since I was having some issues with a few monsters... all I got was a bunch of negative reviews of hard core CV games saying 'omg too easy'. It really disgusted me and pissed me off. :\ Sad considering how many rave reviews PoR got and I thought it was just fuck awful.

Re: Games you are playing
everything i know about mirror of fate is that it is garbage
if it ends up not being garbage then i still wont buy it because i am not gonna give money to something that shits all over 28 fucking years of canon, especially after konami essentially benched the old team (leading to the old producer leaving)

Re: Games you are playing
Aw! :O I found a negative in the game!
It's way too short! I just beat it in 12 hours. Working on getting the full 100% but that's barely going to take all that long. *sob*
Fuck, I'm going to replay this game ^_^. Maybe I'll try Hard Mode.
@noodles Most of the reviews have the same complaint. I've never followed the Castlevania games. I tried to read a little on the mythos so I have some sort of idea but it was just some boring family lineage bullshit which does not excite me a whole lot. It seemed convoluted and long and felt like something that was tacked together - like the Zelda series that they are trying to force connections where there are no connections. I didn't waste more than a day on it, and that was just when I was playing Dissonance of Harmony. ^_^; H-here, let me kinda map out my history with CV games.
Harmony of Dissonance - given to me for Xmas along with Breath of Fire 2 for the GBA along with a brand new GBA. My parents weren't sure what games to get so they picked these up based off of the store's recommendation. It took me over half a ear before I bothered with HoD. I had played it mildly and then one morning before school I got into this room in the game that was ridiculously fun, it was a blood lake that was filling up and I had to dodge all the obstacles and monsters. I LOVED it and things went uphill from there. I loved the creepiness and the uniqueness of it and the exploration.
Circle of the Moon - Another xmas present asked for after I maxed out everything that I could do with HoD. It was... such a disgusting disappointment of a game. The exploration was horrid and the controls even worse. There was no reason for me to backtrack for anything and the monsters were just ridiculous and boring.
Portrait of Ruin - Another xmas present. The most recent. It felt like a fucking anime and there was no creepy Dracula stuff. It felt like I was playing a child's game. Again, nothing to explore. I just felt like I was following a story instead of exploring a castle.
Mirror of Fate - Another xmas present asked for after I played the demo which was mildly entertaining and the price was nice for my sister. I got it this past Xmas. It's taken me this long to bother with it. Can you sense my OOOOH YEAH excitement at wanting to play it? ^_^ I was very impressed with it. The exploration and backtracking was very good and a lot of the QTEss were fun and I loved the atmosphere. And fuck but I'm horrible at platformers. XD I was watching TV with the family the other day playing the game and my family threw me out because I kept cursing at the game. T-T Sorry, Alucard. His chapter was definitely the best and his new 'skills' excited me every time I got one. The story did not make much sense and I definitely felt like I was missing things because I was playing a sequel but I'm fine with that - I wasn't playing for the story. Actually I enjoyed the QTE cutscenes more than I did the actual story cutscenes which I thought were a pain and a bother. One of the few games I will say that gameplay > story, which is weird for me since I normally play games for story.

Re: Games you are playing
So, I've never really played too many Castlevania games outside of I, II, and Portrait of Ruin (and both Touhouvania titles, which were a blast). I also played a 3D castlevania forever ago on PS2 and didn't really care for it.
Since I have a working PC-Engine, Rondo of Blood has always been on my wishlist simply because of it's supposed rarity.
Any suggestions?

Re: Games you are playing
Yeah, Rondo of Blood is pretty ace. Considered by many to be the definite Classicvania, plus dat glorious soundtrack (though I like CV3 more).

Re: Games you are playing
Symphony of the Night is probably my favorite one obviously since it's almost a metroid game
Order of Ecclesia would come in second (though I wish it had better music and level design)

^100% agreed. SOTN first and then OoE as a close second. (Though I like most of Ecclesia's music...)
Rondo is also fantastic, and the PSP version of Rondo may be the single best Castlevania game. Because it has the new, pretty okay, 3D version of Rondo, but also the original game, and SOTN as unlockable games.

Zelda-timeline's as old as the second game being "Zelda II".
Nobody told me about PSU: Ambition of the Illuminus. More common on the market than the Portables.

Sorcery Saga is a pretty cool game.
It is a true rogue-like, which is a rather tough genre. In Izuna (the only rogue-like I played before), you get to keep your level when you leave a dungeon, so you can make progress by just repeating (it compensated by having breakable equipment though). In Sorcery Saga (and most rogue-likes), your level gets reset to 1 when you leave a dungeon. The only progress to be made is in crafting stronger gear. This game is pretty easy though with decent gear, which makes it enjoyable to me even if it is frustrating at times. The story/character interactions in particular are fun. There is a bug where it randomly hangs during a cutscene, but that can be mitigated by using the Vita's backup function on temp.saves.
I've beaten the fourth dungeon, but at the moment I'm busy collecting weapons and shields for completion of the item list (eventually; each piece of equipment needs to be used a long time to go through 5 evolutions).
Recommended to fans of rogue-likes/dungeon-crawlers.

Re: Games you are playing
Bought Kingdoms of Amalur while it was on sale. Good stuff, I'm finding it enjoyable and oddly enough getting interested in the lore.
I was going to say sad that Dark Souls 2 releases today, but I'm a masochist at reading forums about it. I like getting involved in communities sometimes, but that one just makes me want to cancel and never look back.
