Re: Games you are playing
Apparently the new Spider-man game sucks, but they got the web-slinging right. I'll get it when it goes on sale, I guess. I was so excited for a really good game, but if the webslinging is fun I'm in either way.

Re: Games you are playing
Getting really into Conception II. Played it all day today. I went on the net to get some pointers for some of the mechanics and I had to struggle through all the bad reviews the game was getting. Ok, this is not a history-making game - I get that. But it's still fun and incredibly enjoyable. It's not worth the 500 million bad comments that it's getting, most of which are criticizing the characters. I've seen games with far worse fan service that many go out of their way to say is the greatest ever. And the game's characters are definitely not the ditziest ever created. Hell, play Rune Factory 3 and you'll see what I mean and that game is still selling well. (Pia... Pia... please... if you had a brain I would date you)
It's a game based off of a harem-anime like atmosphere. I know many animes that follow this same recipe and are enjoyed by millions. I don't get what people are so angry about.
I think they purchased the game expecting Persona or Etrian Odyssey and can't get past that. Damn, people. It's just a laid back really fun game. My worst gripe is the boob physics, but I've seen fighting games with worse physics. Not a deal breaker. I've also seen magical girl animes that have had worse transformation cut scenes.
*shrugs* Just another situation where people can't get over comparing it to another game and are missing out on a lot of fun and ridiculous humor. It just annoys because now I'm wanting to delve into some of the deeper mechanics but it's going to be hard finding those sorts of tips.

Re: Games you are playing
i disagree with the game having "fun and ridiculous humor" but that's because if i want any of the humor this game is coming up with I might as well just play an actual hentai VN. while the plot itself is basic and inoffensive as a whole i guess the characters are vaguely likeable and that carries the worth of the non-gameplay parts of the game a fair bit.
that still doesn't mean i will praise its writing at all because it employs common harem anime tropes and while it's still i guess inoffensive at some parts, i find some of it fairly superficial.
no, not necessarily a deal breaker, no, but i am NOT going to defend its writing

Re: Games you are playing
I don't think the writing should be defended but I don't think it needs to be battered to a pulp, either. It's just a loose fun and fast game without a whole lot of cumbersome rules that Persona games liked to employ.
Ultimately my point is: I've played far worse games that received less critiques - why all the hate?

My NTSC SMT: Strange Journey works on my PAL DSi so it seems that I've been glued to First Person Dungeon Crawlers recently. Why didn't I discover this genre sooner?

you don't need to worry about region on the DSi unless it's a game with DSi features, I think.

Re: Games you are playing
Oh dear god please tell me you didn't watch the anime. The anime is shit. Now you will never get that out of your head. You've ruined the game for yourself. Just saying ^_^
I was playing through the Hijikata stores and my god one of the cgi's literally sent my fangirlism so over the edge I had to get up and walk away feeling way too lightheaded to continue. Oh god... I want to look up that image to put as my wallpaper on my computer but I'm afraid of searching on the internet and spoiling images.
WHY THE HELL DID THEY NOT MAKE IT TO WHERE YOU COULD SAVE THE IMAGES ON YOUR PS3 FOR WALLPAPERS?! Is there a way to take screenshots on the PS3?

Re: Games you are playing
Beat Dark Souls 2. Solid game overall, though doing repeat playthroughs seem daunting since most of the gear and stuff is locked away requiring you to clear certain areas. Unlike Dark Souls were you could grab what you wanted if you knew where to go and/or have the Master Key or Demon Souls where nearly every area was open from the start.
Speaking of Demon Souls, DS2 seems more closer to DeS than DS... might just be me.
Also Mirror of Fate HD, PC version of course. I never really cared much for the series canon (Since IMO its a convoluted mess) so the re-imagined setting doesn't bother me at all. Haven't really played far enough, so I can't judge it much further, but it seems pretty solid so far.
Also grabbed Child of Light along with it. Haven't played much of it, probably won't delve deep into it until I get MoF out of the way.

Trifkin should play Soul Sacrifice.

For having spent some hours on it, i would rather play Toukiden than Soul sacrifice, it's less rigid in my opinion et more fun to play. But if you like the Mh-likes, you should try God eater, i really loved this one.
And currently, i'm playing Etrian Odyssey 2 and trying to end Final fantasy 13.

I picked up a USB Super Famicom controller. My college notebook is basically a $300 Panel de Pon machine, now.
Good bye productive breaks and lunches.

Re: Games you are playing
I realized today that Mirror of Fate HD was also made for PS3.
:3 Nothing like playing one of my fave 3ds games on the bigger screen. Though I really don't like that they removed the QTE finishers from the first boss. What the hell's up with that? I hope that's not the same with the other bosses! That would ruin one of the final bosses in the game.
