You'd be using Emerald instead in a good group. I had a summoner insist on using Topaz/Titan in a Titan HM group when I tanked. Needless to say, we got to 50% echo before we killed him. Early in my arcanist career, getting a tank that knew or was willing to learn how to tank was a crap shoot. One Copperbell run I pulled double duty on healing.

Double post, but oh well. I've been playing Touhoumon World Link lately (which has been a weird experience, my love of Touhou clashing with my dislike of Pokemon) and, as I know a lot of people on here love Pokemon, I was wondering if I could get a little help.

I have just bred a Rash CUtsuho and want to EV train it, but I don't know what spread to go for. Since I doubt many of you have played Touhoumon, I will note that it is a Fire/Flying and its base stats are HP:55 Atk:35 Def:35 SpAtk:90 SpDef:35 Speed:50.

I am definitely going to max out Special Attack, but I am unsure where to put the rest of the EVs. If I was going to do PvP I would probably put the rest into Speed, but I don't really know how much I would need to be able to out-speed the Boneka the AI have. What would you guys recommend?

Now that I have that out of the way, I will say that I love how hard this game is. For an idea, I have fully played through Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Sapphire, Emerald and Fire Red but haven't lost a fight in single player since my first run of Red. I still struggle with this game; I beat Norman yesterday, but it took me about 10 tries. That EYuyuko is evil; it is a freaking tank, so it can survive ~4-5 of my strongest hits and it has Leftovers and it knows Rest, so it can heal when I get its health low and it knows Sleep Talk, so it keeps attacking me whilst asleep and every time I get it to critical health the bastard uses a Hyper Potion on it. Of course it still kills everything of mine in 1-2 hits.

I quite like this game, but my big problem with it is that it is often impossible to discern what Type something is. In vanilla Pokemon 99% of the time it's "A flaming horse? Must be Fire." or "That thing covered in sparks? Probably Electric.", but in Touhoumon it's "OK, so it's random Youkai #2471... I have no idea what Type this is...". Some are obvious, like Meiling being Fighting or Kogasa being Ghost, but that is not the norm. It also doesn't help matters that the type chart has changed drastically, so even if you know their Typing you might not be sure what to use on them.

This fucker can go to hell. Holy cow, I'm not even sure if I can hunt Gigginox with the Long Sword at this point, since he constantly poisons me when it gets near.

Okay, I'll consider bringing the emerald one for the next dungeon then, and if the tank ain't doing so well I'll pull the topaz one to soak up the hits.

Also a question about Arcanists: Is it possible to become both Summoner and Scholar? I mainly want to focus on Summoner, but I feel like Scholar could be quite useful as well, especially for dungeons. If I can only do one, which one would you suggest? I do like being upfront and at it (considering I have a Pugulist, Lancer and Gladiator on the side) but I don't really mind being more on the assissting side.
Plus, my Arcanist already have about 12 levels as a Conjurer (because I originally thought of hoping into a dungeon as one to heal).

Yes, but you'll need to pick one for the harder content due to the 30 points you throw into a stat. And keep up with gear on both of them.

Her EV training is now complete. After 97 CPatchouli kills I switched over to Kanto and had her take out 126 CMystias/CChens, then back to Hoenn to finish off with 2 CEirins. The end result is:



In 3 more levels she will learn Flamethrower, then in another 3 she will evolve. At that point she will be one of my strongest Boneka (I'd guess third), despite being quite a bit lower levelled than anything I use for battling.

Eeegggeggehhh, eh fuck it, I think I'll do Scholar for the Arcanist. I already have two DPS and one Tank, don't need a third DPS. It could be fun, plus it's less time looking for armour for her. I also get a cute hat as a Scholar.
