Some people were talking about Xillia 2 at work, so I may be thinking of breaking back into the Tales series again after... I think the last I played was Vesperia.
... I really miss Rebirth, though. Still say that's my favorites Tales game at least for battle system alone.

I need to really dig into Xillia at some point. The battle system in Graces f spoiled me though, I can't really get into the other Tales game as much anymore.
Anyway, playing Final Fantasy III and Lightning Returns. I'm in a bit in a FF mood. Chances are I'll play Tactics for 1000th time next. Anyway, Lightning Returns is certainly a pleasant surprise. I went in with low expectations but the game turned out to be not too bad actually. Lots of customization options and the battle system is actually fun. The time limit thing is a bit of a bother though, but it hasn't affected to me too badly so far.

I don't really feel like going into ROA too much at the moment, but I want to briefly mention one thing that I have noticed about the game which is a little weird. The difficulty largely lies in the extremes. Almost everything is either really easy or is a desperate struggle for a narrow victory. For example, I mentioned in my last post that I was excited to fight Lindwurm, but even the tower run leading up him was harder than he was; that dragon is an embarrassing excuse for a boss. However, the next new boss you fight, Nidhoggr is dangerous as hell; it took me 3 attempts just to beat him.
Unrelated, but I also want to add how much I love the Devilchi enemies. I normally don't care for "cuteness", it is a concept that is admittedly lost on me, but how can you not adore these guys:
Also, the mention of Portal 2 previously made me want to go back to it and it turns out I was literally a few test chambers away from the end of co-op mode. The game apparently downloaded the free DLC course as well so I've started in that too. I've done the first 3 chambers so far.
Anyway, the game I actually want to post about right now is Yu-Gi-Oh: World Duel Carnival. I've been playing it on and off for a while now, but haven't been bothered to mention it much.
To start with, that Shark deck I was using earlier has changed quite heavily. I did stick with the Rescue Rabbit engine in the end, but I've deduced that running Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth just doesn't allow for a consistent enough deck, which was disappointing. I've also added in some Xyz support and some Instant Fusions, to allow for even more easy level 4 spamming.
Deck List:
The next character whose story I played through was Kite's. I have always wanted to have a crack at making a Galaxy/Photon deck, but it seems like I'm not very good at it. The deck is a mess and I ended up just giving up. It can do some awesome stuff if you get the right hands, but it is just too inconsistent.
Deck List (for anyone who wants a laugh):
Next was Dr. Faker. The less said about his deck the better. I just went with Lightsworns again. Why does basically every character have most of the Lightsworn stuff in their card pool again?
Faker was follow by Trey. I did use a Chronomaly deck for the run, but I'm not even going to post the deck list. These things are just bad. There are some excellent cards in the archetype, but they (at least with the card pool available in this game) need to rely on luck too much.
After Trey came Quattro. I had never even heard of Gimmick Puppets before playing this game, but they have sure left an impression on me. These things are fucking amazing. Not only are they very powerful, but this deck is one of the most consistent I've used in over a decade of playing Yu-Gi-Oh. The Gimmick Puppets are great on their own, but their real potential is brought out when mixed with a bit of Machina. I do still consider this build to be in beta (I realise it is really weird, but I class my decks in categories based on how happy I am with them: Cutting Board->Alpha->Beta->Complete. Deck lists aren't final just because they've left Beta though, I do still often tweak them and try out new ideas). I am not too sure about the Trade-Ins, even at 2. This deck has 10 potential targets, which is more than enough to warrant running them in 3s, but I would usually prefer to actually use the level 8s or discard them to get back a Machina Fortress. They are great for when you draw a Dreary Doll though, since those are basically dead in the hand.
Deck List:
Vetrix came next and, like with Trey, I did use Heraldry but I'm not going to post the deck list. They are very similar to Sharks, but nowhere near as good. Funnily enough though, I found Shark Drake works really well here, even though it is not even worth running in an actual Shark deck.
The final character I've unlocked is Alito. Battlin' Boxers are weird. Most of their cards seem underwhelming at first glance, but they are actually really, really good. Why? Because of guy, that's why. If you build your deck right, summoning him basically guarantees victory. Running stuff like Forbidden Lance, Safe Zone and Xyz Reflect makes him basically unkillable and, if you summoned him with Glassjaw and Switchitter, you can get another one after he would have been destroyed twice.
I have yet to attempt to tweak this deck outside of Alito's story, so it may be far from optimal as I had to work with the cards he had. I also haven't made up my mind for sure on what numbers to run some things at. I also feel it is worth noting that this is the first time I have EVER not run Mirror Force at max and I'm not even running it at all! This deck just doesn't need it. I'll also point out that the deck's entire purpose is to get Lead Yoke out and then keep him alive, so I'm running some pretty useless spells (i.e. MST in a deck that doesn't really care much about its opponents backrow) to try and ensure I have fuel for a Summoner Monk if I get one.
Deck List
I am currently playing through Konami-kun's story, which I assume will unlock some of the other characters and it works kind of different from the rest. In the others you need to assemble 3 hearts, each of which is made up of 3 Heart Pieces. You start with 1 and win pieces off other competitors in duels. You usually just pick someone to duel out of the randoms that spawn on the map, but every third piece is won in an event duel with dialogue which progresses the story. Getting the hearts assembled gets you a spot in the quarter finals and, three duels sandwiched with dialogue later, you win. That means that each story mode has 11 duels.
However, in Konami-kun's you seem to just have one heart that requires 38 pieces to fill. The map just has a bunch of people that all have dialogue before and after and that disappear once you beat them. I don't know for sure how it works, but I've decided to alternate decks every ~11 duels or so to help keep it fresh. For the first leg (which I only finished last night) I used Blackwings, which were one of my favourite decks back in Tag Force 5. They still work pretty well, but I don't think they are that fun to play in this meta. The extra deck is so damn pressed for space and it is kind of annoying that they have heaps of new support but it almost all sucks. I do love the new Shura -> Hillen -> Giganticastle play though. That's a damn easy 3100 beatstick.
Deck List:
At the moment I'm leaning towards using either Inzektors or Prophecy next.

Still thinking about anti-abyssal Lagi set. Dragon weapon will probably get used, but it'll either be the Stygian bow or the lance. Bow I'll end up making a Lagi gunner set for. Lance depends on what would help the most:
-Agnaktor Z for Guard, Mind's Eye and recommended lance set;
-Normal Jhen for Mind's Eye, easy enough Sharpness+1(+5 talisman) and because I have it;
-Hallow Jhen for Sharpness+1, Razor Sharp, and whatever I choose;
-Lucent Narga for Sharpness+1, Challenger, and Carving Master/minor Thun Resist as a bonus;
-Miralis for Attack Up Large and Latent Power (which means getting hit...).
Still need hunter rank anyway.

So there are apparently two upcoming DLC packs for Mario Kart 8. One for Novemeber I believe, and the second one in like... May next year. Pack one has two new cups with eight courses (four new, four old) along with some new karts plus three new characters: Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Link.
The second pack, once again with two cups, once again one with new tracks and one with old tracks. New karts as well as three new characters. Dry Bowser (I believe it said), the Villager and Isabelle. If you get both (either in a bundle or seperate) you get the option to change the colours on Yoshi and Shy Guy with eight colours.
