Re: Games you are playing
I've been very busy lately, catching up on everything I fell behind with when I was ill, so I haven't really had time for gaming, but I finally caved and had a 35+ hour Ragnarok Odyssey Ace session yesterday.
I have to say it, this is far and away the hardest game I have ever played. I have now declared a fight in ROA the most difficult in video game history on 4 separate occasions (Loki, Fenia+Menia, Fenia+Menia+Loli Ruri, Lord of Death). However, it really has the whole "your character doesn't get stronger, you do" thing everybody always mentions in regards to Monster Hunter. It is frequently the case that things I used to find impossible I can consistently beat with 0 deaths, without any significant gear upgrades. Of course, once that happens the game throws something a hundred times harder in your face and laughs at you.
I am currently up to 150F in the tower. I also did a little bit of Prison of the Gods (a boss rush style mode that the 1.10 update brought with it), but now I kind of wish I hadn't. Completing it unlocked the new ACE skills, including Two-Handed Quicken for the Sword Warrior. I knew that it increased your swinging speed and reduced the start-up and recovery frames for your swings, but I expected a very minor improvement. Instead, it is absolutely insane. You hit so fast that not only do you deal stupid amounts of damage, but in DS mode you don't even have to dodge away from some of the attacks that keep hitting you due to your stagger immunity (like Loki's aura); you can actually heal enough to tank through them.
I am concerned that this will suck too much of the difficulty out of the game. In the tower, any boss that isn't at least one of the stronger greater giants won't survive longer than a minute; since your ACE skills and SP gauge reset every 5 floors I just save them until then, where the bosses usually are, then it goes Frenzy Stance -> DS Mode -> Two-Handed Quicken -> dead boss. It even has half the cooldown of the other SW buffs, so you might get 2-3 uses of it in a single quest. Literally its only downsides are the fact that is costs heaps of AP and wears off extremely quickly.
Now that I've said all that though, I have decided that this is now my third favourite game off all time. There is just something so satisfying in overcoming the ridiculous challenges the game throws in your way. I have never felt so elated in a game as when I saw the Lord of Death finally collapse for my first time. That fight was simultaneously extremely hard and awesome. His helps as well.

Re: Games you are playing
^I bought those streetpass games the other day and I'm enjoying them so far! Monster Manor was the one that looked like the most fun, but has sadly turned out to be the least interesting one, at least so far. Still, they're all fun, cute little games.
I also bought Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright recently, and while school has kept me pretty busy, the two or so hours I've put in so far have been fun ones. The crossover is pretty well handled so far.

Re: Games you are playing
After playing ROA for another million hours, I finally found something to replace my Halmonas Mysteltainn. The only catch is it's skill set means I have to completely change my build to work around it. It is very confusing and giving me a headache.
Also, the RNG refuses to give me any Final Halo that is not a bow, no matter how many tower runs I do.
I hate this game.

One of my friends let me borrow "The World Ends With You" and offered to sell it off to me if I liked it. The game is pretty fun but the controls are a bit, "odd". I'm sure it's one of those games that take a bit of getting used to.
The odds of finding me online are only slightly higher then finding a shiny pokemon

Re: Games you are playing
If nothing else, TWEWY has the BEST writing and dialogue/personality ive ever experienced in an RPG. ever. the story itself may or may not be up your alley, but the way its presented and the characters shaping it are just fantastic. among the best of the DS and all RPGs, imo.
The controls CAN be a barrier. thankfully though, the game gives enough slack to muddle through if it is really impossible to wrap your head around! plus there is an auto-mode for top screen, as garrett mentioned.
I'd really recommend it, its hands down my favorite RPG in the entire DS's library. and thats saying something :3

Re: Games you are playing
I have bought and played a game off steam today called "Schrödinger's cat and the raiders of the lost quark" it's got absolutely beautiful voice acting and it's funny as heck as well. the gameplay is good for it's platforming puzzle standard, although when you damage the platforms it can get a little glitchy. like phasing through a wall your supposed to destroy anyway if it gets small enough. thats the only bad part though.
