Re: Games you are playing
well i dunno how much of my word you wanna take, given how im only a G.Jaggi in, but its a blast so far.
the lack of water was a plus for me... and as an SnS main, i get to enjoy wrangling beasties more than most other weapons... and its fun as all get-out (i doubt itll ever get old, but time will tell?)
i've yet to really try insect glaive... and i dont feel overly comfortable with charge blade yet, but its on my to-do list.
only done the generic quests enough to unlock the online. so i dont really have any opinions on the single player story yet. too busy fighting great jaggi's in my starter gear ;P
but yeah. Monster Hunter is Monster Hunter. not much to say beyond what that entails. nothing too drastically different from MH3U, control-wise

Re: Games you are playing
So far I'm really enjoying it. I'm currently at 3-Star quests and am at that point where I really need to acquire a new armor set as the initial starting armor (each piece has like 1 Defense) just isn't cutting it anymore. I like the fact that everything just feels streamlined now. The "Granny Go-to" (GGT) merchant has been turned into a NPC that does the farm, acts as the GGT, acts sort of like the Argosy Captain from 3U and allows you to trade for monster parts. The downside to the GGT mechanic in this game is that now instead of spending Zenny you are spending this game's equivalent of Moga Points. However, you gain those points by completing regular quests now instead of being solely stuck to Free Hunting Moga Woods or trading in monster parts for points.
I vastly like the improved attempt at turning Moga Woods into something else via Expeditions. It's completely randomized every time you go in and on top of that you can acquire, at least from the few runs I've done, quite a bit of random Kinsect food. As for the Insect Glaive, I haven't used it yet and my intent is to main it along with the Charge Blade, but I'm waiting for a decent Glaive to make that isn't as bad as the starting one. The reason being is upgrading it can be kind of overwhelming with how the mechanics work with the Kinsect.
Lastly, by the time I took on the first real hunts of the game, I managed to upgrade the starting Charge Blade twice. I don't think I've ever seen a LR Great Jaggi go down that fast.
Edit: I also forgot, I love the auto-messages that you can personalize along with the various other chat queues you can make. Though I have yet to actually go online and do hunts with other players. Which is something I want to wait until I feel more settled into Low Rank with a comfortable selection of upgraded weapons (mainly CB*, IG, and SnS) and armor sets.
*Though I am comfortable where it is currently at.

I've never played MH before, myself. Was thinking about hopping in with MH4, but perhaps I should wait until I have the N3DS.

^ If you have a fancy stick-attachment, the older console will serve, fellow hunter, but the N3DS is better for graphics. Reports on framerates and such still vary.
The demo is a fine startingpoint on either version. It is limited to fights with set gear, and hides stats, so you won't get a sense of the downtime and preparation that make up half the battle. Deciding how to use your materials can be overwhelming, but don't worry much about it until you reach High Rank, hunter. A simple Tetsucabra-armour will serve, until you notice that it doesn't. Bowguns require constant investment, so any other type of weapon, including traditional bows, will be easier on your resources as you progress. :3

As I settle into 4-Star quests leaving Harth behind, all I have to say is... That mustache. I've upgraded my armor to Velicioprey armor and made the Genprey/Gendrome paralysis SnS, Gypceros SnS, and Nerscylla Insect Glaive. Now I've got to play around with the various bug foods I have for feeding that Kinsect.

Re: Games you are playing
I only ever tried one MU game for the PSP and I didn't even make it through the tutorials. I really hated every second of it. Sad since you guys sound like you're having so much fun with it. :\

Re: Games you are playing
Well i completed kingdom hearts: re:Coded. i liked it a lot. now, as soon as i get my memory cards back from my evil little cousin, who stole them without actually taking the ps2, i can re play kingdom hearts 1, and actually finish it this time. I've also went back to bravely default, both starting a new file and FINALLY GETTING PAST THE PART I WAS STUCK ON IN MY ORIGINAL FILE.
I used to be a Fighter like you, but then I took a phoot to the leg

Re: Games you are playing
I'm laughing so hard at the moment. I was playing some Lethal League online, and decided to try several characters instead of just staying as Candyman or Raptor. I circled through all of them, so far Sonata is the one I'm worst at (or the player was too good, but then again I beat them several times with the other characters, just not her).
Anyway, I was playing as Latch, and you know how his special involves him taking the ball into his mouth. Well guess what else he can take into his mouth... KO'd opponents. So it was the very last point of the opponent, I knock the ball into him, then Latch's special activates, and he LITERALLY ATE THE OPPONENT AT THE END OF THE MATCH! Oh my god, Latch is now one of my new favorites, so I'm probably gonna try and learn him better.

Re: Games you are playing
Played around online until I unlocked the Nerscylla urgent and decided to do that offline solo. Probably won't touch the 2-Star Guild Quests until I'm done with the 4/5-Star Village equivalents. It is a bit odd that they locked the guild hall's item merchant off from what you've unlocked in the villages.
Was toying around with the bug food. Settled on just splurging it on the highest speed foods I had (+2). I would say it's made a big difference; as it is no longer moving like molasses and is now at a more acceptable speed. Lastly, was looking over what I could make armor wise for those dreaded transport quests. I've settled on and made a Gypceros armor set, gemmed out the negative skill and gemmed in Pro Transporter.

Re: Games you are playing
im so used to MH3U on 3ds online being locked off. i've spent all my time on the guild quests solo offline because i forget multi-player is a thing
JUST unlocked HR2 minutes ago and deciding on if i would like to upgrade my armor or not (the armor in question isnt a defense upgrade but a skill upgrade)
i've pretty much settled my weapon dilemma though. im sticking with the SnS, as its so godly at mounting(along with familiarity), though ill be keeping my charge blade as a close secondary. i really need to take the time (and proper monsters) to train myself on to get better with it (mainly guard points and seamlessly incorporating boost mode).
fighting new things with unknown patterns with a weapon you -barely- know how to use isnt a great learning environment....
as far as offline single player village quests are concerned... ive yet to even do like 4 2star quests

HNNNNNGRGnn!
First time beating Challenge mode in Lethal League AND got the "no continues" achievement too! So excited, but damn do I get stressed from it. Both our HPs were dwindling down together, he 6, me 6, he 5, me 4, he 2, me 2 and BAM he's down. Time to try and learn a new character. Maybe Latch or Raptor is next.

Re: Games you are playing
I can definitively say that I don't like Khezu. Most of the fight, including the 5-Star Village duo one, it spent its time mostly up on the ceiling only to jump down as I started climbing up after it or spamming its AoE lightning attack. My frustration with him probably wasn't helped by a Zamite who was doing its best Bullfango/Rhenoplos impersonation.
I made it to 5-Star Village Quests and am attempting to acquire one more Chilling Beak to complete that mixed Gore/Ceanataur Sharpness+1 set. After that, will probably go after Seltas Queen to have a complete Seltas set for Razor Sharp. On a side note, I've managed to bankrupt my Caravan Points due to buying up as much of the Speed Kinsect food... Probably not a good thing in regards to having active farm going. However, a run through of an Expedition could easily fix that.
