Twink as a "gay" term is more recent; twinking in MMOs is older than dirt.
Incidentally, a twink is not someone who looks for the best gear for their level, per se. It originated to mean those characters that are geared out the ass with stuff they normally shouldn't have (i.e., stuff obtained at a higher level than they are). Twinking in WoW is a bit harder due to level restricted gear but it is still "possible", albeit with a little twisting of the definition since you can't use equipment you "normally" shouldn't have >> It's normally done through the absolute best equip for the level with appropriate enchants.
Just a nitpick, I suppose. One who wants the best gear for their level isn't necessarily a twink, just someone who wants the best equip for the level. Twinks would be like my WoW alts that had nearly ~1500 HP at level 1 due to proper enchants on everything >>
I miss the days of proper twinking

Everquest newbie alts with raid-quality gear was hot shit. That and a Fungi Tunic (perma-18 hp Regen) made levels like ... 1-40 a fucking breeze. Thoguh, we eventually just said fuck it and used a Druid powerlevel until ~46 then group to split EXP with some form of charming character and/or AE group >>
...anyway.
FF7 is ... okay. My opinion of it has fallen over the years mostly due to the abnormal amount of fanboy love it gets. I personally liked the steampunk vibe, if only due to the fact it was one of the few (at the time) RPGs that wasn't high fantasy.
Personally, I like what FF7 did to market in terms of RPGs more than the game itself. It was the first mainstream RPG and, thanks to it, we get a lot more RPGs than before. Sure, some game would've done it if FF7 hadn't most likely but that doesn't really take away from FF7.
...okay, it sort of does. Still, the game is a pretty good FF. Then again, I consider all of them post-7 at least "pretty" good. Just ignore the fanboys who praise the game as the holiest thing ever.
>> Too many people go into the games (FF or, really, practically any game ever made) with a preconceived notion of "I will hate this" and, surprise, end up hating it. Sure, some games pleasantly surprise but at least be fucking open minded about it.
Edit: I'd like to take the time to say that a Bullet Punch from a +6 Scizor is sick op >> Barring the four types it has trouble with (Water, Fire, Elec, Steel) it will one-shot you ... and most of those types are then just flat out destroyed by a Superpower. GOD I LOVE THAT THEY MADE SCIZOR OP.
...though I wish my SD Lucario had better, PP-wise, moves available >> Contemplating Bullet Punch over ExtremeSpeed if only for the fact it has more fucking uses. That and STAB + Weakness going for it possibly.
That or switching for a CM Lucario since I have Scizor to cover Blissey and any other SpD Walls ... hrm. That at least gives Aura Sphere + Shadow Ball/Dark Pulse for type coverage (at least neutral damage to everything in game), HP Rock I suppose for Gyrados or something? Hrm ... maybe just Sub to help set up the CMs since it's only +1 per use instead of +2 on SD (though +1 SpD! ... !).
