Not much of a fanboy... that's not what I hear you say when you talk about Valkyrie. (I'm just messing with you, Scy.)

Maybe our definition of fanboy is different~ Haven't spoken much about Valkyria here I think who knows.

ps, if you own a PS3 and don't own VC, I officially hate you.

Edit: Though this Etna is tempting...

...and Misha, Shurelia (Ar Tonelico).

Seriously though, it is probably the best SRPG this gen but that isn't saying much. If nothing else, I really hope the leveling system is reused in future SRPG titles and the Canvas engine is pretty so here's hoping to the sequel that they wanted to work on.

Half of me wants a VC without attacking stopping when you aim ... the other half would die horribly a lot. And a better cover system (why can't you hide behind chest high wa...oh fuck Gears of War reference).

Edit: Which is one of the reasons why I'm looking forward to ST5 despite it apparently being the worst of the series >>
Have you played Crackdown? inFamous takes that and has infinitely better climbing and, personally, nails the superpower feel. Not sure what to say, I suppose.

The actual YouTube page has it in better quality.

Also, Crackdown was fun, not even close to as fun as Earth Defense Force, but still pretty fun.

The PS2 has outsold every system for how long? That's not exactly news >> I mean, it has seen lower sales recently but you have to figure that by 10 years, everyone owns like 5 of the bloody things. It's still sad and depressing for the PS3 but not that big of a deal in general.
For what it's worth, April NPD sales were terrible in general, following the general downward trend that has been going on for a few months now. I believe April 2009 is down almost 10% from last year and overall year-to-year is down a little over 1%.

...why the fuck do I know these things.
And ... meh. The system has enough games that I care about to warrant my purchase. It isn't that the PS3 (or 360) has terrible games so much as it is that they don't have the games you want. There's a huge fucking difference. I'm quite satisfied with my PS3.
I swear to god, I will probably go insane if even more people bitch about that. Seriously. Such a trite and overused generalization. It's the new "360 IS SHOOTERS ONLY RITE?!" retardation bullshit I suppose.
In other news, Famitsu liked Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (9/9/9/9) and Gyakuten Kenji (9/9/8/8).

MONEYHATS?!
Who knows but it's Famitsu and blahblahblah inflated review scores blahblahblah etc. fuck etc. moneyhats etc.
The development cost of the Playstation 3 was astronomical (needlessly so, in some cases: partly because Sony is stupid), so I dunno how far they can drop the price of the system, or how far just yet.

Plus, what Scy said about the Playstation 2 being out for significantly longer, etc. I've owned 2 of them, myself.

EDIT: My problem with Famitsu isn't the inflated review scores, but with the scores often not matching what the typed reviews say. Sometimes they are comically mismatched. The Final Fantasy 8 (or was that 9?) review was particularly bad, as I recall. American review sites are much more consistent, which makes me wonder why Famitsu's review scores are so important to people here?

Yeah, the PS3 dev costs were ridiculous (and dev time for PS3 games themselves are pretty outlandish) which correlates to a higher console price. Blu-ray and Cell cost a fucking lot. The tech will eventually get to the point that they can reasonably price drop it but people will still bitch and moan so ... meh.

But, hey, E3 coming up so time to get people's hopes up for that PS3 price drop!
Believe.
I don't find Famitsu scores important, I just saw them and figured I'd post it since I figured someone would fangasm over Famitsu loving KH.
I'm shocked they didn't give it a 10/10/10/10.
And ... what? American review sites are just as bad if not worse. IGN is moneyhats, GameInformer is retarded, 1up is decent though most are biased (i.e., reviewers review games they actually like going into it), etc. I don't put much stock in any review scores in general so much as the text of them.

Edit: Not to say that biased reviews can't be helpful ... like someone loving a genre and absolutely hating a game says a lot; the opposite holds pretty true as well. As long as it's not something as dumb as having a feminist review a fanservice game and expecting people to take the review seriously >>.
Kind of wish I was joking but Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier got that >>. I mean, yeah, it's WAY TOO MUCH fanservice but, deep down, there's a really fun [s]boobies[/s] combat system.
That and I love reading reviews for terrible, terrible, terrible games as it makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.
And then have IGN give that same game a 4. I guess it got 3 points for actually turning on and running and +1 for not exploding. Then again, after how terrible it sounded, I'd wager the game killing the player would've been a neat bonus.
Heh, American review sites aren't much better, that's true, I just think they're more consistent in matching review text and numerical scores. Although I do like 1up, admittedly. Jeremy Parish has some great reviews.

There's some good reviews but most of those come from reviewers that like the game in question ... of course the review sounds awesome but the meat of it is a bit ... meh.

Really though, if you find a reviewer that matches your tastes and you agree with, then you win. That's all you need. A random reviewer, however, isn't likely to help you at all if you take a score at face value. That's all.

I just say fuck it and hate all reviewer scores.

The PS3 is still one of the cheapest blu-ray players available, I think. Or it was at launch. Anyway, they were actually losing money on each PS3 sold at launch.

I'd want one, just for the blu-ray and a handful of games, but I don't have the money. I don't think it's a bad system or anything like that, just that for my money I focused on getting a Wii first.
