Do people still go by scores when reading reviews? I honestly have always wondered WHAT 5/10 means? Is that "normal" in their eyes or is that a below normal? Does normal exist for them?
I like reading their comments as well as considering their background and favorite games list. Or, I will actually just read a bunch of reviews to form an opinion. Sure it seems convoluted and often times isn't the best method but then if there's a serious problem with the game, you usually hear the same things repeated.

7 is considered "average", 8 is slightly above average, 9 is good/amazing, 10 is AWESOME/perfect. <7 is garbage.
So pretty much think of school grading~
It's not that there are people who go by the number solely but ... I dunno. The "lolhardcore"* don't care about the number exactly, per se; most tend to ignore really high scores ("inflated" "moneyhats") and throw hissy fits if it's too low ("PS3/360 bias" "hates good games" "forgot to moneyhat"). Kind of weird how that works, I suppose. The super casual, know nothing of gaming and the interwebz, and actually subscribe to the magazines for reviews probably care but ... meh.
*Oh do I use the term loosely here.
Only review number that means much to me is Edge's ... if only because they hate the world apparently and believe a "10" must cure some deadly disease. That and I enjoy reading the backlash when they give some title a terrible score.
8.4 IS AN ATROCITY. ... wait, that was IGN hrm...
Just finished the story for Platinum (gogo +6 Scizor sweeping 3/5ths of the final trainers >>). Time to muck around with the Tower forever.
...if it wasn't for this coming in:
...fuck! (also, Dexter [s2 Blu-ray] looking random in the background oboy).

YAY DEXTER
Anyway.
Playing Platinum... I over-leveled Rapidash up in Snowpoint, and Garchomp's ten levels higher than everyone else... I desperately needed him to evolve/learn Surf.
Jeez I need to get back to the Platinum story like WOAH. I've been dicking around leveling my characters because I need to do Spear Pillar...I've been putting it off since I've just been playing for 10-15 at a time, and I hate saving in the middle of caves.

Too laggy to play RO. If I can't cast Fire Wall fast enough those clocks will one-shot my poor little mage. ;-;

Spend time figuring things out. When it comes to choosing a character, I can help with stat/skill suggestions. ^-^

Speaking of which, Ragnarok Online DS is reaching American shores this winter. Sounds like a fun way to pass portable time but my biggest gripe is you have to play as Ales. Ales with default hair. It's so tacky. If I'm going to have to play as a generic headstrong youth at least let me customize some of his features besides class changes. ;-; AFAIK it uses many of the resource files from RO.
